Seems like this guy Louis is really a swindler... Jon cast my attention to his posts on SH trying to sell the salvaged cars he's been fixing, including the Alltrac I looked at the other day. And now he's upped the price of the Alltrac $1200 from $6300 to $7500!! I know ppl must've been calling him and he thought he score more dough. The guy told me it wasn't his car and he was selling it for a friend who just left the island... frick what bullshyt. I'm glad this shootofighter dude is putting him in his place, that's some funny shyt. ;)

clint you know what ,,,this louis character is the same guy who called me in regards to my black 1991 turbo mr2 back when i was selling it. i was asking $10,500 and it had some goodies and only 60,000 miles. louis calls me up one day with his heavy chinese accent and asked if he could see it. when he came he asked all kinds of questions like "has it been in an accident" why does the paint look so new, was it repainted" then he asked" is it salvaged" LOL. also asked about accidents.then he drove the car tehn offered me get this $6500 for a 1991 turbo mr2 with 60,000 miles, i literally laughed in his face and told him "why you wasting my time" . i parted ways very angry. then 5 months later while i was trying to sell my 1993 mr2 turbo he called again and when i meet him it was the same guy. then i knew what his business was. he buys car at either auctions or from private owners for a dirt cheap price and sell them for a heafty profit whether the car is in salvaged condition or good condition
anyhow it doesnt matter to me if he sells car for a profit because many people do that, but i dont like the fact that he sells car that have been in total wrecks and tries to hide it then when the unsuspected buyer buys the car and he goes to the dmv to change th eregistration and title, dmv tells them that the car is a salvaged car. F#*UCK that sh!!T.

clint one more thing i noticed you replied to a ad for sale about a mr2 turbo on sh. i believ 69,000 miles gray with black leather.
hmmm sounds fishy again. pleae elt your friend know this, either two things:
1...this is a aquaintance of mine ,,mr2 turbo. sure its a 1991 mr2 turbo but from what i seen and know about this car its pretty unbearable that someone will do this to a mr2. the mr2 is made up of two separate mr2's, they took this silver mr2 and another mr2 front and connected them because the silver mr2 had some major front end damage. the body shop told me the person driving the silver mr2 rammed into a semi truck and totally destroyed the front half of the car and also the rear passenger doors. it has a salvaged title for good reason.
2...this is not really a turbo mr2 he is selling its a n/a but i dont know why he would lie about the car being turbo when its not.

I tell you, this is fully ridiculous already. I can't believe the amount of bombers there are on the used market! And how many unscrupulous sellers.
When I asked Louis if the title was clean he said, "Yes, clean title, clean title. Not salvaged." And when I looked at the title it was clean, but owned by a shop which raised the big red flag. I didn't think to ask about how the title would look after the transfer. My friend had already offered 6k cash before I could get in touch with anyone, and I can't tell you how pissed off I am right now to think how close he came to getting screwed over. If not for the advice of both Sean and Alex, I don't know what we would have done, because the car looked really clean, the title looked ok, and it was hard to figure out what might have been wrong with it.
We called another car in the paper, a Legend that had come up for sale, and Louis answered the phone. :wtf:
The other day, I looked at a '95 Teg with 65k miles on it with the original owner. It had no oil in the engine, some minor dings, looked like a battery had been stored in the trunk because of acid damage, and sported an Earl Scheib paintjob (saw the reciept in her maintenance records). We walked without even test driving the car.
Yesterday we called a '95 240 that was advertised, and it was Louis again!!
I see him at Monk's every once in awhile, and he apparently recognizes me. When I got out of the car he looked really familiar and he knew me right away, but I couldn't understand how I would know any FOB dudes and couldn't place his face. He's not a friend of Daniel is he?
Nowadays it seems you really have to be lucky to score a legitimate deal on a used car. I think if the guy has to repeat a statement like, "yes, clean title, clean title" then it's a sure thing that he's full of shyt.

I think it might be worthwhile to run a check on carfax nowdays. I think it's worth the extra cash to do the check.
