Has anyone heard or used the Valentine One (V1?)
I think it is a radar detector.
Does it mess with the reading at all or is it just a detector?
Do you know if it works against photo radar or portable vehicles? Like the dumb vans with the cameras on them.

Does the Escort mess with the radar detector?
As if you were going 60 it would say 34 or something random like that?

Radar detectors are illegal in some states. Radar jammers are illegal in ALL states.

I own a V1 and I love it. It is a radar detector. All it does is pick up the radio waves at the frequencies that police use. It does not alter what the police see, but it lets you know they are there. It has saved me a few times from tickets. It will give you PLENTY of notice before you reach the police. If I was to estimate, I would guess that, on average, it gives you 2 minutes notice. The distances at which it detects radar depend on greatly on the terrain (hills and sharp turns obstruct the radar). It will, however, pick up radar from automatic doors, radar guided cruise control, etc. Personally, I don't mind the sensitivity because I would rather have false alarms than it going silent when there is a real cop. I would HIGHLY recommend it to anybody. If Valentine comes out with an updated version of the detector, you never need to buy the new one as you can send it to Valentine and they will update it for a nominal fee.
I personally do not like the Escorts because I think they are too gimmicky. I don't need a memory function to remember where false threats are. The Valentine is pretty bare bones in that it only picks up the radar, but it is the best at what it does. It is really about personal preference. I have heard good things about Escorts, but it is not for me. I am an involved driver and I want to know EVERYTHING. I don't want a machine making decisions about what are real threats and what are false alarms.
FYI radar detectors are legal everywhere except for DC, Virginia, and Military Bases. Radar jammers are illegal everywhere and the ones you can buy don't work AT ALL. They really are garbage and a waste of money (including the aforementioned Rocky Mountain one).
I don't know anything about Arizona police, but if they use laser, you are pretty much screwed. The Valentine has a laser detector, but all it does is let you know you are getting a ticket. Laser does not scatter like radar so any detector won't pick it up unless it is aimed right at you, and you know what that means.
A radar detector is not a guaranteed safeguard. You need to use it to supplement your driving. You need to be aware of your surroundings. You want to look ahead of you for brake lights. Police can use VASCAR or similar methods for detecting speed. They can do it from the air or the ground. They time how long it takes you to travel a known distance and they can calculate your speed from that. There is no way to have advance warning to combat these techniques.
You seem to know very little about this subject so I would be happy to answer any further questions.
