What do you guys think about my stereo estimate

Okay, went to the local stero installer, and got a price on what my system would cost me. So here it is:
Sat. Radio tuner - 150$ (i already have a sat-ready clarion headunit)
2x W3 12" - 458$ (I def. want these. My friends sounds amazing
500/4 amp - 319$ (I want my mids in..thats why its 4 channel)
2 sets of 6" - 150$ (too cheap imo)
Box - 100 (i suppose its a custom box)
2 farad cap - 100 (would i even need this?)
Wires? - 40
Tax+installed
$1521.70

What do you guys think about it? My only concern is that there wont be enough power from a 500 watt JL audio amp to power my subs, and my 2x sets of speakers?

So i shouldnt upgrade the speakers at all? And, about getting my subs off ebay... How do i even know these are real and im not getting ripped from buying referbished or used junk

I've bought tons and tons of things off ebay and I've only ever had one problem with some speakers once, and I ended up with a brand new pair for about $40 IIRC (they cost $100+ if you were to buy them from ebay). Granted it was a bit on the deviant side (okay, way on the deviant side)`...but it worked out. :)

Definitely get new speakers, but for the front, not the rear. You can if you really want, but it's a waste IMO, particularly in a small car like the celica.


Edit: I mean, in my humble opinion the premium sound system sounds amazing and I'm curious as to how much better it could possibly sound. Albeit I've never heard a really high end SQ system, but that's just my impression.

But how do you know your not getting ratted out by sound quality? I mean, It might sound good to you, but the real things sound alot better.

What do you mean the real thing? They are the real thing. It's the same thing, you're just getting it from a different place.

As for sellers, not particularly. Just seach for what you want and find a seller who has good feedback.

No it won't. They're the exact same speaker. There will be no difference. I don't know why you think that. You're getting a JL product, it's not like an imitation or something.



I would never buy an amp from best buy. If I was going to get a 1000w amp I would buy this: http://www.audioque.com/aq/AQamps.htm. That amp put outs 1200w (going a bit over on rms is fine, in fact I prefer it) at 1 ohm so if you get it make sure you get the 12W3-2 (because they're the 2 ohm version) subs and have them wired in parallel.

Alright, im probley going to be paying 200$ to the person i think is going to be making it. 100$ for a custom box, and 100$ for a installation. I found a employee that worked there, and we had a little talk, and we might be doing it out of the store to make him money, and save me money. Thanks a TON for the help, and ive concluded this.

Even if capacitors did work as they're made-out to, running just 400w...you're lights aren't going to dim. In my old neon I had ~900w with my stock battery with no light dimming. If after you get the 1200D you have dimming, then invest in a good battery under your hood and do the big 3 (http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=152355).


Edit: also I just realized that that best buy amp you linked puts out about 300w rms at 4 ohms. Remember to go by the RMS power, not peak which is basically irrelevant.

You say "Caps", the question is, how many are you running and how big are they? And do you have the Big 3 upgrade, bigger alt, and bigger batt? And are you at idle when your lights are dimming?

Sadly, without a system. My LED (This is probley just because they are LED) dome light is dimming on bass hits. :P But yea, if it does ill just buy a cap. And thanks alot for the help. Im still debating on weather to buy on ebay, or from store. Probley the store gets them from ebay -.-:blah:

Bought 2 sets of pioneer speakers as well as my deck off of ebay from sonicelectronix. On ebay they through in some of their new stuff as well as all of their returns, just read the fine print. Bought a headunit, and the speakers in brand new condition for about $40 cheaper then on their website (didnt charge me shipping and saved $10 on the price for the speakers)

Nah, its not even running. That COULD be the problem. cause the altenator isnt running lol. Sadly, i havent got to drive my celica except 3 times at the most. Its parked untill i get my license. (July), and i want to hit lift so bad :(

More Sq footage = More air.
Lower ohmage = Less resistance = harder hit & more power out of the amp. (In short)

No this is after like...a ton of trips to the car.. i dont think theres nothing wront with the battery..its just that i was in the process of converting to LEDS (All done now :D). Now all my interior lights are orange, led DRL, and LED license plate. :wiggle:

Yes, and that's precisely why I say make sure to get the 2 ohm version of the subs and wire in parallel which will result in a 1ohm load at the amp, and that audioque amp I showed you does 1200w only at 1 ohm.
