For the price, I'd pay a little more for a PowerFC.
No way the power FC is like $799 for the unit itself then more money for the controller , and more money for getting it tunned properly, and with this mod you will still keep your Warranty!

what the hell is this knock sensor kit?
it is the kit that changes the differance from the 2000 to the 2001/2002 ECU's. This replacemant in the knock sensor/ and a 2000 and some 2001 ECU's will make the 7500 rev limit .. go up to 8350 rev limit. Helps with acceleration , and pure fun!:D

'02 OWNERS complain
Every1 points them in the direction of this "kit".
Someone asks for pics of the kit.
The reply is: "what do you want pics of"
This is the mystery surronding this fix for '02 owners (me included).
Everyone wants it done and appreciate the research put forth so far. We just looking for the cold hard facts.....price.....pics....install.
Something to sink our teeth into.
Every1 says "run to this member or that member, he has your fix, stop asking"
We will when and if some1 can do what BRAK
is asking SO politely for
;)
no flames here
just looking for the facts spelled out slowly...in an easy to find place
thanks in advance

Hey I'm the guy that just sent his money to 2zzge.
The price of the kit is $165 plus shipping (which depends on where you live). You can get an ECU online for somewhere between $150 and $250. I didn't think that was too bad. Especially if it will allow me to stay in lift for that 1-2 shift.

I have many pics of the install. I also have the instructions. I also have not had any cel lights on my car. The wires included in the kit is just one it is the one that needs to go from the new knock sensor to the computer. To clear things up it is 175 for the kit and what ever shipping is. The instructions are 16 pages with pics. As far as installation goes I will install these kits if you live in the bay area and dont think that you can do it yourself. I do think that if you are experienced enough then you can do it your self but be patient with yourself and do quality work for you do not want to have to do it again or break anything. I know this works because I have done it before and have been enjoying lift for a long time. Also remember I am not making any profit off the kits just doing this for your benefit. Because I know how much it sucks and wanted to help out the others who suffer as I do. Do remember I did this out of my garage so no special tools except 1 which is the tech 4 wrench are required. I am not a company so the connectors are simple and what I used so if you feel they will not suit your purpose then feel free to modify or change anything you want but remember if it doesnt work after that then It was your mistake not mine. NO FLAMING INTENDED TO PEOPLE TO THE CELICA BOARD. I also dont want people to complain about how I did this because I dont want all my research and hard work to be flamed. If you cannot do it then take it to a local shop they will be able to do it just fine. If you dont trust the kit then good luck on making your 2002 to be able to see 8200 rpm's. I also would like to say that I appreciate the confidence in all of you 02 members who were waiting for my kit. My email is nike@dspr.co.jp so for any further questions please send them there. I will think about putting the instructions up on this site.

OOPS....Sorry about getting the price wrong.
2zzge sent me some pics of the install, and it looks clean.
The ECU prices I quoted are for used ECU's. New ones are way too expensive.

The instructions have been up for over a month in teh Technical forum complete with wiring diagrams and connector locations. I was just curious if your wire had factory connector on the end of it. Just FYI you can re-use the stock harness, you don't have to run all new wire.

Check the Technical forum - thread called "knock sensor" - another person just finished the swap sucessfully, using the instructions posted in that very thread. Heres the link:
