Today I was on my way home from work when I got pulled over and ticketed for having Illegally Tinted windows on my celica. The Cop tried to pull some BS about me pulling out of a gas station too fast before he pulled me over but he really just wanted a reason to pull me over and ticket the tint. The ticket is for 170 bucks and I gotta get the tint taken off to get it dropped because the car was sold to me with the tint on. Its not the biggest deal just kinda a pain and I liked the tint because it kept my car cool and looked great. Is it just me or do we celica owners get targeted because our cars look so sexy that we must be doing something wrong? It seems like cops just assume we are racing or something every time we get behind the wheel. I think being pulled over for tint is a BS ticket, wait till I actually do something that shows I am a bad driver or wait till I get into an accident caused by the horribly impairing tint. I have been driving almost 5 years now with a perfect record except for one speeding ticket for 9 over which resulted in a small fine and no points. Anyone else have experience with this or just celica discrimination ha?

well first of all the reason they limit how dark your tint can be is because they want to see what you are doing and who you are. its for the public safety they say :jerkoff:

I got profiled by a trooper. He was going to go stright, saw me and followed me. Only took about 5 seconds for him to pull me over.

And yeah I know hondas are gonna be bad like that too and prob worse....I just had to vent a bit yesterday after getting that ticket....kinda gay and I liked my tint :(

man so cal is the worst. ive gotten followed by cops for like a solid 4 or 5 minutes and then half the time they dont even pull you over. its like they think its funny or something. and then one time a cop followed me for like at least 5 blocks and im like fvck this ashole is gonna pull me over and he did. and he walks up to the window and hes like well i was looking for a white neon and thats obviously not you so have a good night and i was like uh you too officer ha ha. and then he asked me if i was on probation and i was like nope and drove away ha ha.

just ask every cop to sign it off hoping that one will be cool and if all else fails ask for an extension and then keep asking and last resort just take the tint off. put it back on later.

One time I had a trooper follow me for seriously a total of 15 miles. I went 5 under the whole time to piss him off. He finally stopped and did a U turn. :bang: They need to put our tax dollars to use.

LMAO!!!! just imagine that picture, a celica passes by, 2 cops see the celica and follow it for a few minutes\miles, and inside the cop car they are like.. oh boy isn't he scared now? and then start cracking a joke about it or something, i'd lmao if i ever see that happening to me and see the cop smiling.

never not even once have i been profiled here for my car. only had my car be called cute by and old lady today.

i don't have tint but tint really isn't too much of an issue around here. unless your asking for it and bringing attention to yourself and pop off as a dick they'll probably let it slide.

but i have been pulled over well got attention leading to a speeding pull over from a loud exhaust on my old car. mid pipe was broke and hanging and man was that loud.

my celica was pretty damn loud. some people told me is sounded like a kazuma but louder ha ha. and i had a resonator and obx muffler on it ha ha. but ive driven by cops at like 2.5k or 3k rpms and they dont even look and sometimes im babying it as much as possible without stalling the car and they look at me all kinds of sideways. but compared to my friends who drive hondas i never really go that much attention from the cops that wasnt unwarranted ha ha.

I just picked up my celica so I haven't done anything to it yet and its still pretty loud. Back in the day I got pulled over in my old civic (first car) because I had a huge hole in my flowmaster exhaust and it was loud as hell lol

Nope he issued me a citation for amplified muffler. I plead not guilty and have not heard anything back. It's a $15 ticket with $85 surcharge, **** that.

I really have only been pulled over twice including this incident. I have radar and always lookout for cops. When I see one it's clutch in and decrease to 2K rpm lol.

"it was the morning and it was pouring rain and i see a cop is checking my plates. so hes following me for about atleast 10 mins and when i switched lanes he did the same:bang:so he decided to come and finally pull up to me (I have my windows tinted all around) i pull my windows down in the pouring rain:angry:and he just keeps looking at me for a whole mile. and he just watching me getting drenched in the rain and and gives me a smirk and finally takes off. Negative:wtc: im drenched so had to borrow friends close to go to school, seats are soaker as well as carpet:marky:. Positive didnt get pullled over:D"

So I took my tint off this afternoon....everyone said taking it off was soooo hard and most people f-ed up their windows permanently with like scratches and crap but my tint came off perfectly with no trouble. Pansies ;)

Now the question is if i should try putting the lowest legal level (32%) myself or pay a shop to do it? Everyone said its harder than taking tint off but then again they said that was real hard and I didn't have much trouble. Has anyone tried that glue free tint stuff? Its like reusable or something...goes right on and off once you cut the right size piece.

as i was reading i asked myself and wonder what would happen if as they are following you, you wait until then take their eye off the road( check pc for your plate)
and you slam on the brakes? lmao
have them rear end you and say you could have sworn you saw a dog or something lol..

i noticed the same with my obx set up. like letting off the gas at 3k rpms while in gear is like WAY louder than hitting lift. weird.

i would have slowed down and let him get in front of me and then rolled the windows back up. or stay in front of him and keep them up. let him pull you over for something stupid that will get dropped or written off easily.

as long as his lights and sirens arent on then he legally is required to stay within the legal limits of the law. but people will never report cops driving like a$$ hats so they get away with whatever they want ya know. but if her rear ends you cuz he wasnt paying attention can you say LAWSUIT ha ha ha. id have his badge in a box and a boat load of money.

lmao ive been targeted my cops here ive had a police follow me extremely close for like a good 5 min and as i look @ him in my rear view i would notice he would look down. i guess to check the plate on his laptop.. maybe next time il slam on my brakes and hope for the best :fawk: police

I am right now debating weather or not I want to get 25% even though the legal limit in MA is 35%
The place that would do it does custom tints as well as giving me a discount because the owner of the shop works for my uncle.
I am gonna do it and if I get ticketed I will just go in and say the tint is for security purposes only =p

better yet go to your eye doctor tell them that lately you have been very sensitive to sunlight and wonder if there is anyway to get a waiver to have darker tints... they really cant argue with you and if they do and they strap you down to some crazy looking machine to test you and you pass all test come back a week later soooo my eyes still sensitive..you gonna give me waiver or do i need to go to another doctor?

You can also claim to have seasonal allegies to things like pollen and dust mites that cause your eyes to burn and be sensitive to sunlight. This is harder to prove by testing and many many people live with these allergies all of their life so it is a good way to show the doctor you need the approval. :wiggle:

I haven't posted in forever, but I had to respond to the tint discussion. I gotta try and help out my fellow celica drivers. The easiest way to get tint as dark as you want legally is to go to a doctor and tell them you get migraines and the sun seems to be triggering them. It's a common cause of migraines so they can't argue it. They'll give you a prescription for the windows if you ask nicely usually.

My mom gets migraines and she tinted her 350Z, but now got a new 370Z that needs to get tinted. She drove around with them like that for five years and never got pulled over! Even my brother who doesn't get migraines got himself a prescription but the best part is he was always getting pulled over and that was the one thing they never went after. It was way past legal too!

They also watch movies in their cruisers when they are doing speed traps.

If cop is following you, just pull over at first parking lot. Go to the store or something and come back, if they are still there go in circles around the block until they get tired of you :)

I don't think cops are allowed to follow you for more than certain amount of time, they either suspect you and pull over right away, or have to **** off. Make it obvious that they are following you.
