Any help would be appreciated. Looks like I lost it somehow, trying to get it back. Where is that you have to shift anyway? 8200 or is it 8300?

right before your rev limiter

Slip the clutch. More wear on your clutch, but less stress on the transmission/engine by trying to get both wheels to spin.

Physics say it's not possible. But ask a burnt up clutch how it got in that condition. It would tell you it's possible with power shifting.

I have gone through the same thing.

the way I get myself back on track is to do this>

1. I try to shift quickly and all that stuff BEFORE THE CAR IS WARMED UP ENOUGH TO GO INTO LIFT.
Yeah sounds crazy right, but that's the thing, we Celica owners think sooooo much about the 1-2 it sometimes drives us nuts. All we need to do is remember it's just like test driving a car for the firstr time, just shift quickly like you do in a normal car. Thus a normal car doesn't have the whole lift thing.
So you know when you bounce off that premature rev limiter in the morning . Do that shift quickly htere and it'll get you in practice to do the real thing.

Also, I never ever followed that guys shift guide (I believe it's a BMW site of some kind, where they visually show the recommended hand positions.
Well they show the guy doing the baseball bat grip on the shifter JUST for the 1-2.
I have now changed to doing the baseball grip onthe 1-2 and I land it all day long. I also have prevented SLAMMING into gear with powershifting this way. Because you have a lot less range of wrist motion this way , you slow yourself down and shift properly.

The main thing is be careful right now. this is a point where you'll start to fudge stuff up if you're not careful,

The biggest thing we go through is we start thinking about it way to much , you need to shift it just like you've shifted every other car out there, just go to 8400 and shift.....

i can land in lift shifting at 8k
shifting at 8300 lands me at 6200 or so.
just shift fast, no speed shifting.

another tip is to keep the revs up between shifts....don't let your foot fully off the gas pedal.

Exactly. I still land lift all day with my TRD clutch and TRD Japan flywheel.

EVil: You sayin' you let your foot fully off the gas between shifts?

Why do you say not letting your foot fully off the gas is bad for the car?

You finally got rid of your Blitz clutch/flywheel setup? If so, how do you like the toms and ACT.

i let all the way off the gas when i shift.
i might slip a little when i let out but i dont notice it at all.

the difference between the blitz and the act/toms is the act feels stock.
the pedal is much looser than the blitz and doesn't grip nearly as hard.
the act grips low to the ground just like the blitz but the blitz had a more pure racer feel to it.
the blitz was a clutch that is meant for racing...
also on the blitz the clutch isn't organic like the act.
other than that it seems like my car revs a little faster with the toms flywheel and i can keep it in lift easy as hell.
it seems like i pulls harder under 6k than the blitz, and that may have to do with the heavier flywheel of the blitz.(3 pounds difference).
but the act clutch is easier to drive because of the pedal feel...
im happy with my choice.
the blitz is a bad ass clutch though
any other questions?

Ever since they fixed my misshift it is really hard to land in lift on the 1-2 no matter what I do... which is why I'm praying I win that 03 at arbitration.

I agree with EVIL, if you're running up to the redline to shift, then keep the revs at the rev limiter and dump it into gear, that really isn't good for the car, but I do think that if you keep the revs from dropping below 6K, you'll have a better chance of staying in lift. It's really hard to be that sensitive, So I guess we just need to shift fast...just make sure your foot isn't faster than your hand. :)

my shifts have been getting better and better.
its pretty easy to stay in lift on the 1-2 now.
i just got some redline mt-90 and i didn't think it would help but it helped out a lot. no more grinding into second or anything.
and my gears dont get all hard to shift after driving around for 30 minutes.

Let me drive it again Danny and I will keep it in lift for you.

Yeah Ryan that was good. I needed that. I just wanted to know it was me and not the car. I just gotta get the feeling back. I'm outta practice.

TrdSteetracing. The quaiffe LSD is the ****. You can launch in lift with a little practice. Its well worth it.

Louis, I didn't make it either man, it was real hot that day :(

Lets try for this week, maybe Friday though instead of Wednesday.

does your car hit lift all the time. the reason i am asking is that my car is only hitting lift about 70% of the time. Took it to 2 dealerships and no one can fingure out the problem.
