well there's a huge range.. i mean however much you want to spend. i'd say stay away from sony. they're not that reliable. pioneer is the best for the money if you're on a budget really. some of the new kenwoods are good too. this is 200 range. up in the 400s you get into alpines and the high end pioneer premiers and eclipse and clarion. now it depends what you want. pioneer has the most stuff, eclipse has the least stuff but "focuses on sound quality". don't worry about getting eclipse unless you have a good system all around. because the weakest part of your system is your speakers, that little difference in head unit clarity won't mean ANYTHING unless you have really clean everythign else too. so in the higher end alpine and pioneer premier are the two i'd look at. pioneer will give you more stuff for cheaper though.

subs, jl audio 10w3s are great, if you want 2 subs and you get 2 of those with dual 4 ohm voice coils you can get a 2 ohm load to your amp. they can run a huge range depending on where you get em, a good price would be 300 for 2. a lot of times that can be 400. i think retail that'd be 500 for 2. these take 250 rms each, if you don't have that kind of power or want cheaper, get 10w0s, they take 125 rms each. if you need a cheap powerful amp the jbl1200.1 is by far the best value amp you can get. its pushes more watts than they claim, more than you'd even need really and its like 250 or so. you could do their 600.1 probably if you run 2 ohms.
