Hi
When I bought my car it came with a Clifford alarm system. The model is an older Clifford G5, with a five button, imitation carbon fiber remote. The buttons include a single star and a double star on the left column of buttons, and an unlock/lock and trunk button on the right column of buttons. On the bottom is a long oval shaped Clifford button. I do not know the exact model and this is the only description I can provide.

My problem is, the alarm seems to be overly sensitive, and also likes to go off when I try to lock my car with the remote. I have now been forced to manually lock my car, however unlocking with the remote is no problem. What I would like to know is how can I disable and/or remove the alarm mechanism and keep the remote locking/ unlocking mechanism? The proximity sensor is located in my front bumper, while other components have unknown locations to me.
I have already used the search function and have looked through a few Clifford PDF manuals (of which only tell you how to program your remote not install/ remove components). Help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Your best bet is to take it to a stereo/alarm shop and have them put in a new alarm. They'll know the best way to take out the old one, and you'll still have an alarm in the end.

You have to be a certified installer in order to get access to the installation manuals for DEI products.....you may be able to find it on the internet but chances are slim...

Yeah I'll probably end up taking it to the shop. I'm not very good with electronics anyways,

I know, I just couldn't find out the exact model. If I have time I might take the front bumper off and see if the proximity sensor has the model on it.

I think you don't have to replace it...

I know, I just couldn't find out the exact model. If I have time I might take the front bumper off and see if the proximity sensor has the model on it. I was referring to the alarm ECU. However, if you're removing the bumper for the prox sensor....... you'll probably find the sensitivity adjustment on the sensor. The other method would be to possibly program an arm delay on that input.
