Can you post better pictures? Are all the mounting tabs intact? Is there any hazing or discoloration and or scratching of the plastic lens?

HyperGTS

I tried to take more pictures but they didnt turn out too well, I think its the camera. Heres one of the pics. Theres no hazing or discoloration, only minor scratches that are barely noticable, one broken tab has been replaced.

yes these are actually projectors designed for HID lighting. The regular projectors are designed for halogen bulbs.

Good luck with the sale HyperGTS. $650 is a steal for these.

FYI: 500$ is for the housings ONLY, not with the ballasts. Those are an extra 215$ a piece.

First of all, that is $536 + shipping. So you are already looking at close to $600, and those are not even complete housings. You need another $40 or so worth of covers and gaskets for each side, so you are looking at at least $670-680 without the ballasts or any lights. Next time have your facts strait before posting in someone elses thread, and better yet, keep it to PM.

someone please tell me...what is SOOOO good about OEM HIDs that would warrant such a high price tag everywhere? I mean, seriously, its like 3x as expensive as regular headlights.....i dont know why cant we just slap on ballasts and bulbs to regular housings :shrugs: its definitely bright enough

The quality of the OEM HID headlights is superior to the regular ones.
The lenses are of a higher grade, with better light output.
Additionally, the HID headlights contain some internal hardware (leveling motors) that increase their price.

OEM HID are the legal way to do it un the US. Secondly, Toyota has it spec'd at 4300K, the scientific brightest output... where youre getting the most light, and no color. Third its toyota, product backed by name, these have a tendency to not break as easily... hence repairable tabs.

I could be wrong, but they are all facts.

How the heck are they legal if they're BRIGHTER (= more annoying to other drivers) than other HIDs? Just because they come with the car? 4300k? meh doesnt that color have a bit of yellow to it? that doesnt look sexy at all? IMO best color is pure white or have a hint of blue (6k)

so far u have me convinced that it is of better quality than OEM regular headlights....but im still not sure why not just use OEM headlight then buy HID kit separately like most people with not-HID cars do.

aprcelica
09-09-2009, 11:09 PM
Brighter doesnt equal legal. The leveling motor is what legalizes them... so when they are brighter, that extra glare doesnt go into oncoming traffic and the people in front of you. and no, 3000K has yellow. 4300K is about as colorless as you get, 6000K you start to get some blue and lose light, all the way up to 12000K where its almost purple and rather dark. We dont have to convince you. Its in the price, the law, supply and demand. this thread isnt for you if you aint buying. Bump for good price. :hitit:

^well for one the OEM HID headlamps are designed for HID's, the normal headlights come on our cars are only designed for halogen bulbs. yes you can get a HID kit and put them in the halogen headlights like most of the people do. But until you get a set of the OEM HID with HID's and a set of halogen headlights and put HID in them you wont notice the difference. The light clarity is totally different. If i still had my halogen headlights i would take a picture with one of each on the car to show the difference in brightness and clarity of each one at the same time. Trust me and anyone else who has the OEM HID headlamps, they are way beter than the normal headlights and for $650 is a very good price. unless your lucky like i was and can get a set for $300 shipped lol

09-10-2009, 11:02 AM
The projectors and reflectors are designed for use with HIDs, so you get the best light output, and minimize blinding other drivers on the road. Plus the projectors provide a slightly different color output than the regular halogen ones do, regardless of which bulbs you use. Besides that, the housings look MUCH better than stock, the inserts are a nicer darker color, and the bulges in the lenses for the projectors are bigger.

this thread isnt for you if you aint buying

anyway, to the OP, sorry about that, I just wanted more info on a possible future upgrade. Good Luck with the sale!

OEM HID are very cool! I personally have the German HID housings and I love them! Bump for some very nice items. GioGTS, the HID housings are designed to properly aim the HID bulb output. Plus the 4300 bulbs are as pure white as you get. It was a huge improvement in light output when I switched. If you're only interested in the ricey blueish colored light then get a cheap HID kit and call it a day. If you want high performance lighting then you should be interested in the OEM HID housings.

Any chance you would separate the ballasts and if so what price would you be looking for them?

Putting Headlights back for sale again, need some money. I will consider selling to the highest offer, right now its at $550 shipped for OEM housings and ballsts only, you will still need additional parts to complete the whole thing, it will only cost about $70-$80 plus bulbs to complete the kit.
