sorry i know this goes in repair maintanence but i need some advice tonight or by tomorrow morning
i had a really squeaky engine so i took it to the dealer this morning and they replaced the accesory belt and belt tensinor. so i went to work out at 7 pm and the thing started squeaking like crazy again. on the way home from the gym it was barely squeaking then when i parked i got out of the car to listen and couldn't hear it. if anyone has had this replaced does it take a few days to go away? or should it be instant no squeaking again even after it rains. i am pissed i went to the dealer at 7 am this morning waited for 3 hours and if it is still squeaks tomorrow i am going back again.

I replaced mine and i have a 2002 celica gts 6 speed with only 4700 miles
I havent had any squeeks at all the only problem i had was everytime i let out the clutch on a hill or straight way it would ping like crazy and then knock. it was really bad going up a hill like the engine wasnt getting enough gas and it wouldnt do it if i let the clutch out at 2500+rpms all the time.
they replaced mine and it works great now its like the car is brand new. I have a feeling that it will come back again in another 2-3k miles. who knows
all i can say is toyota should of re evaluated this engine when being stressed over 6k+ rpms.
maybe the tech installed it wrong
dont know

I had mine done and it has not made any noise since, even in the rain.

I just had my belt tensioner and belt replaced. Took the car in because the squeaking noise I would hear only on cold mornings suddenly became a continuous squeaking noise. The dealer informed me that there is a recall on the belt tensioner for the celica and replaced it for free yesterday. I have not had any more noise so far and I am in Austin TX right now were it has been raining non-stop for the last week. Maybe yours is still squeaking because they but a defective part in as a replacement part??
Good luck!

That can happen if they don't prime the piston properly during installation

my squeaks went away immediately after having the tensioner replaced... no waiting necessary.

I heard a little petroleum jelly takes care of the squealing. But if you can get it replaced for free, why not just go that route
