So last night I get out of my GF driveway onto a 25mph street zone which is maybe 100 yards long. Knowing this stretch for 4 years I have never seen a single cop on it, in fact not a single live being... and I regularly speed past the 25mph sign knowing that in 50 yards there is a 35mph and in another 50yards there's a 40mph sign, so I progressively accelerate up to 40... but this time right in the end of 25mph zone I saw something reflective in the bushes behind the fire hydrant. It was hot, so I had my windows down and as I drove past the spot I saw a cop in a crouched position. As I passed him he clearly said RED CELICA into his radio, and of course further down the street the Christmas lights come on, thinking oh ****, I cut right into a small intersection and disappeared into the network of dark residential streets. I think my face was glowing brighter than my tail lights I was so pissed off.
I get the feeling they will start digging trenches or siting in the trees soon...

no, you see, the cop I passed was just a spotter, their cruiser was further down the street way ahead of me, so it was 2 of them, one spotting another hiding lol, but crouching in the bushes... c'mon that so low...

sounds like a typical speed trap set up.
whats strange is that its at night and in an area you describe as barron (ie no one ever travels down the road)
the strange part is the cops were obviously out there looking to cite speeders, with their two man operation, but if there aren't many people who traverse that road it doesn't make sense for them to set up a trap like that.
It would make sense if the road was heavily traversed and they are well aware people drive faster than the posted limit knowing the sign's increase to 40mph a short distance away. Then their time spent to ticket ratio would actually be practical.
Anyways, I would of pulled over, running from the cops even two in a speed trap is still too large a risk for me to take.

I hate speed traps...
I seriously drive 5 under because the state wants money now what easier way of revenue then "speeding tickets".
I'm sure because our cars look fast they pull us over for anything.

Not really, They were on in front of him not behind him or with them being near him to tell him to pull over. In his defence he could have said he saw the lights and thought that there was an emergency there and he did not want to impede through the road and make their job harder, so instead of guiding him down the road they can aid whoever is in need of help.

i got caught for being in the car pool lane of a freeway on ramp, because i didn't want to hold traffic just to merge. it was circular, and he was at the top on the hill facing traffic, its basically a $371 ticket so i'll be homeless and hungry that month.

Heh, I just moved in September. About a mile from my new place, I was always seeing people pulled over in a 15 mph zone, but I never saw the "Special Cop Hiding Place." I was so proud when I found it--a narrow, fenced-in driveway on a small right-of-way going deep into the woods to a water tower.
I'd be hacked off too if I was caught on a stretch where I'd never seen a cop. I'd bitch that it wasn't a fair game (although, of course, it is). The crouching cop, hidden ticket-writer ploy is lame. I think there's a law over here where they have to be visible. I've always seen them either standing next to their motorcycle or in their car with the parking lights on.

Pretty sure we have the same deal as well. The cops need to be somewhat visible. I remember I was speeding down a empty stretch at night and somehow I caught the light reflective stickers from a cop car ahead of time and slowed right down while I went past him. He was parked beside some trees and tall bushes and was definitely trying to hide and park out of sight but for some reason had over half of his car in plain sight. He was in the dark and hard to see, if it weren't for his reflective stickers I probably would of gotten a ticket. I always drive under the limit on that road now haha.

Its true, I let my girlfriend drive my car for the first time and within 5 mins she got pulled over. The cop complimented my HID's though =)

Ive ran from the cops before, twice actually, both with success.1st time. I was coming home from a meet around 8 at night. My buddy was in his Evo and i was leading. The highway was on the barren side soo we kept it goin till we were doing around 130mph... Might I add that the whole time you can hear the evo spooling behind me, kind of a a rush. Next thing I know, joe (evo) calls me so I handed the phone to my gf cuz there was no way I was going to answer it and drive, and joe is just screaming "cops". I looked in my rearview mirror to see flashing lights way way way back there. I figured the cop would have to go about 150 or more to even catch up so I told the gf to just tell joe to follow me... we proceeded to get off the next nearest exit, where there were a few stores with parking lots... I quickly went behind a dunkin donuts and parked between that and a Walgreens where i can still partly see the road to see what was going on..Turned off the car and the lights.. Sure enough the cop exited as well but drove right in front of us, didnt even see us or the cars.... my knees were shaking soo bad, especially since it was a statie and he would be more livid cuz he couldnt find us. Thankfully we waited a good 15 minutes and took the center city back roads to escape any more calls that may of gone out to other officers..... never again, lesson learned.
