ok so i'm planning on doing 18s and i hear u should drop it first before getting the wheels. So, with my intention of getting 18s how much should i drop it? i don't want to go too low b.c i live in PA and in the winter i have to deal with snow. how low should i go so that it will look good with the 18s on but i won't have big problems during the winter. 1.8? 2? 2.25? I'm confused. someone help me out. also, whats the avg. amt for springs to be put on not considering the actuall cost of the springs??? i know, lots of questions, sorry. Thanks for the help!

Who told you to lower it before getting 18's? Springs take a little while to settle but get what you want first man

well.... if u get 18 inches on stock springs..... ur car is gonna look weird.... like some sorta R/C, rally car crossover..... thats probably the only reason why springs go first........ i dont think it helps or harms either way.....
as for 18"s i dunno how much u'd drop it... u could always go coilover setup... and then u can adjust however much u want...
but for springs... i think TRD is what most peole use here... so i guess thats safe....

I have 18's and Veilside body kit and I don't have it lowered at all.
I say get the 18's and then see how much room you have in wheel gap or whatever and go from there. Just my .02

I have 18's with Eibach Sportlines (2" drop). I haven't had any trouble at all, and I think they look great! I would lower it first, and then get the wheels though. If you have 18" wheels and a car that isn't lowered, it's going to sit higher than stock, and I think it would look weird. I had my lowered for about a month before I got my wheels, and then once you get the 18's it will sit a bit higher than it did with your stock wheels. It's your car though, you should do whatever you think is more important to you first ;)

oooooh yea....
if u want a body kit.....then it changes... some people go with rims and body kit, no drop and it looks okay.. but if ur going no body kit, u'll definitely want to drop it..... someone post a pic of a non-lowered celi with 18"s.... it looks rather strange, believe me..

It all really depends on your future plans --- I feel, first off you must get the rim and tire size (total diameter)as close as possible to the stock wheels and tires you have onthere now (total diameter). Obviously go with a little wider tire. I'd say get the wheels FIRST. Then see what the gap looks like (probably close to stock if you get a pretty close diameter rim/tire combo). If you are unhappy with the vehicle's stance --- then get out the measuring tape and figure out how much you want to go down. I'd say you can go with an Eibach sportline setup (with the stock bumpers and be fine). I live in NJ so I am familiar with the terrain in PA. The sportlines are going to give you one of the biggers drops without going in to a coilover setup. If you decide that you don't want the real low look, and just want your car to have a more aggressive stance then TRD is a safe choice. If you have any questions on anything you can PM me and I'll be happy to answer any ?'s you have. I just can't type all the info I want to give you right now.

I have 18x7.5 Konig Imagines, I could not stand the too large fenderwell gap that I had after I installing my 18's. I shortly after replaced my factory springs with Eibach Sportline springs, from www.tirerack.com, the springs set my car exactly the way I wanted it......

I don't think it matters either way. As long as the wheel size doesn't go over the size of the tire. Full radius of stock celica tire is what, like 20'' or so? If you stay under 20'' rims it shouldn't affect the way the car sits. It wil be just as low untill you make the tires bigger.

Here's my car with 18" Tenzo-R RS5's with no drop. I'm planning on that next, but I don't think it looks all that bad.

I would suggest getting coilovers....change drop to suit you and if you get a body kit in the future you can readjust to prevent scraping.

But then wouldn't you have to keep having to pay to have the height adjusted???
