Ok im trying to read reveiws and look around at alot of places for prices, but i have a few questions. Do all DSLR cams have a manual focus option? Or is that a lense thing? Also what are some of the good entry level cams that i can compare? I think thats all i have for now, thanks for the help :)

All dslr cameras have a manual setting. Nikon's beginners camera is a D40 and for canon its the rebel xt.

ok cool,i thought about another question. What lense would i need to really small things? also how do people blur out the surrounding areas in thier pics?

taking macro shots you mean? depending on the camera that you want, what you would have to look for is a lens that has a macro ratio of 1:1. what do you mean blur? well you would probably want a lens w/ a high aperture to make everything in the back out of focus.

out of focus is more what i meant, like the focus is on 1 major thing and the rest is out of focus. Yes macro thats it too glad someone understands what im saying lol

Well what i mentioned earlier should meet you needs. Prime lenses are the ones that have a really high aperture. The most common lens to make things look out of focus is the 50mm f/1.8 . Now if you have money you can get the 50mm f/1.2 , which makes things even more out of focus

EOS Rebel XS (a.k.a. 1000D) SLR Digital Camera Kit (Black) with 18-55mm IS Lens & 75-300mm III Lens

yeah you could start off with that camera.

with nikon you could start off with the d60 or d70. i started off with the d80 myself.

what you're talking about "out of focus" is known was bokeh. at least i think that's what you're talking about.

and mrluilou is right. 50mm f1.8 would be a great lens to start off with if you want to get some shots like that. not very expensive and produces get results!

yes i read alot of post last night bokeh is what im talking about

If you get a nikon d40/60 the 50mm 1.8 would not auto-focus because the camera does not have a built in motor for it.

Xx04xGTxX
06-26-2009, 08:51 AM
so if i go nikon id have to start with a d80 for auto focus?

mrluilou
06-26-2009, 08:53 AM
pretty much :gap: Unless you get the 50mm 1.4 which has the built in silent wave motor

IMO if you like the rebel XSI and want to shot video (HD) and have the money, get the updated version. Canon Rebel t1I!
but if you dont plan on shooting and vids then the xsi works on the canon side.
