Cop "saves my life"

This is a story from a year ago when I still had my 1st car. So in my 4 eventful years of driving I managed to get 8 tickets, 5 of which were in less than 3 years, and by MASS. law if you have 5 or more tickets in less that 3 years or more than 3 in 1 year, you are required to take a 100$ drivers retraining course. Getting another ticket after that meant automatic loss of drivers license for x amount of time in months.

A week later, I am speeding down a single lane road with a 25mph limit. I was going 55, thinking about stuff, day dreaming... a sound of siren and blue lights return me to my consciousness. Everything crashed inside me right that second, I pull over and just sit there thinking, thats it... cop was raging... he said he followed me for 3 minutes and I broke speed limit 2 times, and that I was doing 40 over a speed limit at one point, I felt like I swallowed my tongue, couldn't say anything, and he asked me are you ok? why are you shaking, I probably looked really sick at the moment lol. He walks away and spends maybe 15 minutes in the cruiser, a tow truck comes and 2 more cruisers pull up behind me. After a few moments he walks up to my window, hands me my papers and says, "I'm going to save your life today, get out of here." And the whole convoy drives away. I didn't move for a while, I couldn't believe what happened... There are nice people out there, we just can't afford to wait to run in to one of them...

Why do u have so many tickets? Slow down and pay attention. Maybe you should take that driver retraining course for your own sake and others on the road.

Sounds like he did just the opposite of saving your life by letting you drive off free. 55 in a 25mph zone? That's residential areas man! If you're off daydreaming while you're driving chances are you'll end up killing someone else if not killing yourself.

my celica has cruise-control, i guess i'm the only one (i must have some super jdm version!). i use it to maintain my speed without speeding (even without paying attention!).

dude, you are so lucky you got away with double over double the speed than depicted, a freind of mine was doing 65 in a 25, he got his license suspended, got 2 speeding tickets in which each 1 was double'd, his car got impounded, got 3 tickets, 1 for expired registration, another for expired insurance, another for not wearing a seatbelt AND had to go to court, this whole mix pulled around $1300-$1400 from his pocket, you should be very thankfull and have learnt your lesson , hopefully :D

Wow... a lot of good responses here, people just love jumping to judgment an conclusions... considering I was driving a piece of shirt and got a crap load of tickets for bulbs, glass, improper equipment and I only had 2 speeding tickets, probably the last time I'm posting a ****in story in here.

this whole mix pulled around $1300-$1400 from his pocketHaha, you guys get away far too easily... Try 65mph in the 25mph here in Norway - that'll get you (from a recent case in the news):
- A fine in the size around $1800
- Licence revoked for 2 years and 4 months (or more)
- A trip to do a new complete course at drivers school sets you back ~$3000
- Additional bonus: you get 3 weeks in jail, yay!

No seatbelt alone would set you back $700 or more ;)

Tints, bulbs, exhausts and all that are easy ways for cops to build thier quota. Since cops cant pull you over unless you break a certain law, having an aftermarket exhaust, blue or any exotic bulb colors or dark tints gives them an easy reason to pull you over. Thats why cops love to pick on young tuner kids. Easy tickets and the results at the end of the day makes thier sargents happy.

But back to the speeding and having the cop let you go. You are lucky, truely are. If that was your frist speeding ticket, then sure I guess a warning can suffice but you said you had two previous speeding tickets? I dont want to sound like a douche man but I would of prefered the cop tow your car. Ive seen ugly stuff happen here with people speeding with the best case scenario that ONLY the car was destroyed and worst case being death and no I dont only mean you as the driver.

But maybe his warning was a sign to talk about it here and having your fellow celica owners wake you up. Be careful man and try to stay focused, keep speeding for the track.

Just try to take the criticism a little bit better. What you are not seeing is the other side of the story.

Yes you are lucky you got away scott free, and yes the cop could be percieved as a "cool" cop if you didn't see the other side of the story.

You dont realize that it was probably better for you to get cited/towed so that you (hopefully) will no longer drive so fast and daydream.

Its not about everyone posting here being a saint, its not about us trying to say we are better than you, its about us trying to make you aware of an issue that you need to correct.

Lol at all the Moms on here. Everyone of you act like youve never got a speeding ticket or some sort of ticket and say to revoke the kids license. Yet you all have aftermarket parts on your cars not built d.o.t specifications. Some of you are so low to the ground you cant go over a speed bump more than 5 mph and can cause and accident and could kill someone and your flaming him take a look at yourselves. Your all doing something illegal in some sort.
