Has anyone come across a thorough repair manual for the celica like you would find at a autoparts store.... you know the ones... 8.5 x 11 roughly 1" thick.......... I know Haynes doesn't make one yet and I have not come across one in my own searching..

I wouldn't expect to see one for another couple of years.
that's how long it took for them to do one for my Mercury Mystique (Ford Contour) - about 4 years.

Best bet is pay an arm & a leg for the Toyota ones. The Haynes wiring diagram comes from Toyota anyway.
The Toyota ones comes with more specs and tells you what a lot of part numbers are.

I actually got a pretty good deal with the two Toyota Manuals. It pays to have your hookups.
I have gotten in contact with Haynes when I first got my Celica and also just recently and they said that the sales of the Celica does not meet the quota to make the manuals. If they so... Maybe if we all contacted Haynes they would make it sooner.

Haynes manuals suck ass. Only way I can handle one is to go to Kinkos and have it spiral bound so it lays flat. Get the Toyota one.

I think the Haynes manuals make a nice, cheaper alternative. I was able to get one for my 2000 Integra. It even covers the Type R model. For $30, I got one for my Integra and my wife's 95 Mystique. I've used the one on my MR2 quite a bit, even though I have the Toyota manual. A lot of times, the pictures in the Haynes manuals are easier to use than the drawings in the Toyota manual. Just my opinion from my experience.
