Fu*kin ****ty...did you have wheel locks?

Nerf Herder
07-02-2002, 06:32 AM
That's actually their jack and spare donut propping up my car. I called the cops and asked them if it was possible to get fingerprints, but he said since it was raining, there'd be no way to get prints off the car, or the equipment they left.
And no, I didn't have wheel locks on there. Stupid, right? I figured it was a safe enough neighborhood that I didn' need wheel locks. I guess there are no safe neighborhoods anymore. Taught me a lesson though. Next time I buy rims, I'll definitely get wheel locks with it.
My rims were 17" Konig Rated Rs, but with a slight difference. I peeled off the stickers that spelled out the words "Rated R" on each tire, that's one sticker each letter so it too me a while to do that.
So if you see 17" Konig Rated Rs out there with no "Rated R" sticker on it, let me know.

This is what they looked like:

Do you have an alarm on your car?

Nerf Herder
07-02-2002, 01:17 PM
at the time, no alarm on my car :(, but I've learned my lesson.
As for insurance, in the beggining, the insurance company refused to give me any money since these were aftermarket wheels, but after begging and pleading, they agreed to give me at least half what the rims and tires cost me, so I took it, it was better than nothing.
Now I have about 500 bucks to start with buying new rims. I'm eyeing these rims called "Maxxim". They're not too expensive, and they look good. Anyone have any feedback on these rims?

I think you should buy an alarm with those $500. Then start getting new rims. If you get new rims, what will you do if you get jacked again. If those same theives know you bought new rims, and your car has no alarm, most likely they will jack you again. Keep an eye out, with a shot gun in your hand, they can't run away with your rims if they are missing a leg. :bang: :naughty:

Damn that sucks. From what I understand wheel locks cause vibration at high speeds, plus they're easy to break off.

You should etch on the inside of the wheel some markings to make it difficult for them to sell them.

what insurance co. do you have? mine will cover any parts that are on my car, I mean you pay insurance for a reason.

atehrani: never heard of the vibration issue, but I can see where u coming from. As for breaking them off, yeah, there are some sockets out there that will break them off. Regardless of alarm or not, your car is never that safe, if someone really wants something or your car, trust me it will be gone. All you can do is just hope for the best, again I say, that's why you have insurance.

how much are you getting from your insurance for the wheels?? you might get more by claiming the stock toyota rims/tires since there stuff is always way over price...at least some dealers are

dang that sucks! that happened to one of my friends but he doesn't have a Celica. they used his own jack and stuff and jacked his rims and his stereo system. but they police didn't do much about it...he just got money i guess from the insurance company. they got past his alarm and EVERYTHING.

WOW!!, that's exactly what happened to my friend in his civic, they stole his rims and system right from his driveway, his room is right on the driveway's side, alarm and all, they still were stolen....

This Asian man can undo all 20 lugnuts in less than 3 minutes. 12v impact wrenches are dirt cheap. After that it is all a matter of jacking up the car and pulling the wheels out.

You can't file a claim on your or your parent's home owner's insurance? A couple years ago, I had my old car broken into and $200 in stuff was stolen out of it. My parents filed it on their homeowner's insurance and I got my $200 back.

Must have either an alarm or Wheel locks. If someone's gonna steal them thats the first thing theyre gonna check for. Make your car the one they pass up for easier prey. The first month i had my car i got wheel locks on my stock GTS rims.

I had my stock rims stolen at my work last year. They stole my rims during a rainy day. my car have alarm(the alarm did go off people heard it but nowadays nobody cares). They smashed my driver side window to pop the hood. Nothing else was stolen, just the rims.

Out of the mess, the insurance paid for:
The stock rims($1300 check, i bought a used MR7 for $700 pocketed the rest)
The broken window and the dent size of a fist,
Center console
RED JDM steering wheel(they threw a rock to break the window and scratched my steering wheel)
One fog light(w/c i broke driving down to lousianna, insurance changed it anyways)
Painted the whole front bumper(the paint peeled on the car wash(my fault),again ins. covered it).

This may be a stupid question, but if that is their jack and spare, does it at least say the make of the car on it. With the make and size of the spare you could narrow it down a little.

NeSyO03

I'm gonna move to a new house, then buy new rims. What do you guys think of "Maxxim" brand rims? Any good?

As for the jack and spare tire, the cops took it as evidence. Haven't heard from them yet.

its likely they are not going to use their own jack and spare. its likely they used a civic's jack b/c civics are so easy to break in.
