Not Cape Cod!! That place blows, it is the most boring place I've ever visited and the people were not NY/NJ friendly! :)

newport for sure... hitup the board walk... highly recomend the brick alley pub for a place with excellent food... a bit on the expensive side though

the people were not NY/NJ friendly! Yankee fans are definitely unwelcome.

Given it is a weekend, I would say Newport. As you'd be running into ridiculous traffic getting to the Cape.

it is the most boring place I've ever visited You just didn't know where to look. Downtown Hyannis hops in the summertime w/college kids.

There's also Pufferbellies (http://www.pufferbellies.net/?mpf=frame&).

That's where I went last year, Hyannis, remember 2Way I was telling you about it. We got bored pretty quick and at a valet parking they hit my Scion and spray painted it :( I would say newport too.

I was just away last week I visited Lake George, Lake Placid, NH, and MA(Boston, Chikopee, Springfield) I had a lot of fun except the drive through NH at night was pretty boring. If you are looking for a getaway with your lady I'd recomend Lake George.

thats ok...food is one thing we love to spend abit more $$ on. Our recent trip to Balimore harbor consisted of a $50 breakfast, $120 lunch and $210 dinner :chuckles:

Course, if you're into history... there's a Bed & Breakfast place right behind my house..... and you can visit the Rock, Mayflower, & the Plantation..... and me.

& I can tell ya where to go for food...

The joys of living in a tourist town....

But, I started counting places to eat within walking distance one night.... & stopped @ 60. :D

newport; no question about it. I went to Cape Cod with my girlfriend last year for a weekend (Fri-Sun) and was dissapointed. It's more for an older crowd in my opinion (we went to hyannis as well). The beaches there are small and have lots of broken shells on them (which is how cape cod beaches are). We didn't end up getting to the beach that is the most tourist friendly because it was a 20 min drive and you had to pay i think $15? Didn't make sense since we could walk to our beaches for free. Only thing that saved it was that we had a jacuzzi in our room! In retrospect, I wish we only went for a day trip or at most an overnighter. I like relaxing (love the islands), but I couldn't find enough for us to do to stay busy! I still had a good time, and I guess it's basically as fun as you make it. If you're going with a girlfriend, I'd def recommend to bring another couple...

I've heard many good things about Newport, however I haven't been there for a few years. My bestfriend just went there this past week with his girlfriend and loved it. I'm planning on checking it out at some point.

Besides, the difference in drive from NY to newport has to be a good amount shorter than to Cape Cod, right? I live right near Hartford and it was a good 3-3 1/2 hr drive to Cape Cod, whereas Newport I believe is 2 - 2/12 hrs top. It's a nice drive through the cape though...

at a valet parking they hit my Scion and spray painted it Yeah, I remember that. Valet parking not a good idea around here. Closer to Boston it is.

this is a typical cape cod beach. Very small with marsh behind you and a shelly dirt. Maybe I'm picky because I compare all beaches around here to the islands.
