Before you jump on me for how much I suck at driving...yes I do suck, but these aren't my best times anyways. I'm a track noobie, and I'm still learning/improving. I just need some Q's answered b/c I'm confused.

Here are the two #'s

r/t 1.015 .892
60' 2.455 2.522
330 6.958 7.049
1/8 10.614 10.680
MPH 67.29 67.99
1000 13.756 13.792
1/4 16.440 16.453
MPH 83.57 85.38

These are two of the runs from last night at the track. As you can see the first 60' is lower than the second one, but the 1/4 time almost similar, and I traped even lower. 1/8 was about .07 faster, similar to the 60', but lower trap speed once again. What's going on here? Is that normal? I did get a little bit of wheel spin on both launches, but both equally.

Also on another note, I've had people tell me two different stories. One side tells me hat I shouldn't burn out my street tires b/c it does nothing...it actually makes it worse. Other side tells me, although it won't make it "sticky" it's good to warm them up before the run. Someone settle this for good please.

Hey Sam, it looks like you just shifted better the second time down. You can easily improve that time so try to work on your launch.

If you are using your daily driving street tires then don't even bother tearing them up. It's probably not worth the wear you are putting on them by spinning your tires like crazy. Though with my 15s which I don't use anymore I beat the crap out of them at the track. At most, a brief spin of the tires is good enough. Kick some rocks off. But really, it's not necessary. Just roll up to the line and get it on.

It might sound silly, but between races I rub the rocks off the tires with my bare hands.

I was ripping up my tires a bit too much at the track two Fridays ago and I actually was tearing pieces of my tires off at the end of the day.

I was thinking maybe my 3-4 shift was slow b/c the 1/8 time is where it should be???
I was also thinking, if I should just stay in 3rd gear. As you can see I'm trapping around 85mph, and 3rd gear tops out around 85pmh. I find myself shifting into 4th just before the finish line. What do you think???
Yeah, I've got the 60' down to 2.3 now. Hopefully I'll be hitting 2.2's next time around.

It's a GT. Trap speeds are very GT-ish. Your launches are fine... you gotta learn to power shift.

I apologize. I drive an almost stock GT.

Burnout Box: If you don't spin your tires, how do you avoid the H20? The Burnout box at our drag strip has the unavoidable puddle... GRRR, I spun mine until they hooked slightly and then stopped. It still took 3-5 seconds for them to hook up after going through the H20.

For those with a GTS, how much wheelspin do you get in 1st? I try to avoid it as much as possible since I've been able to spin above 6K and gone noooo-where.
