I'm looking to get my first good camera and was wondering what's the best out there?

I was looking at a D60/D90 from Nikon but I dunno.

DSLR is a must (of course), anything around/under $500 for the camera and lense.

Thanks :D

the d90 is a good camera but its a bit over your price range.

the d60 isn't too bad to start off with. you might want to look into getting the d80. not sure how much they go for now.

also the canon xsi or xti is a good buy as well.

you just gotta look around and see what's in your price range.

D60, Rebel XTi/XSi... all could be found for a great price in your local Craigslist. I've seen several XSi and XTi cameras for way cheap.

What's better? XTi or XSi?

also does this look like a good deal?

the XSI is newer so I'm guessing that would be better?

Yes. More MP, Live-View LCD (kinda defeats the purpose of an expensive D-SLR), and more.

I can get the Rebel XSi for 575 used in Mint condition.. Is that a good deal?

What does it come with? That's not a bad price, but I've seen several around that price and lower that comes with 2 lenses, all the necessary pieces, and a bag.

D700 :headbang:
I also suggest the D80 over the D60.

My bad, they're XTi's. I'm looking at Craigslist for these; the sellers most likely will not sell to out of area buyers.

Didn't find it @ bestbuy

I'll see what I can find. Right now I'm still leaning towards a Rebel

get a rebel or any entry level dSLR if you're just starting off

Get the cheapest DSLR body-only you can find, whether it be nikon or canon and get a 50mm 1.8 (they should be under $100 new whether nikon or canon). Learn on that and when you are ready, invest in a few more lenses. Don't make the mistake of spending money on a better camera body when just starting out. It won't make your pictures much better if at all until you really know what you are doing.

Either way, based on your budget you're going to end up getting an entry level DSLR.
