if its in perfect shape, then yea, the price seems right given it has a clean title

Everybody's asking 7-8000 for stock/dress up mods with some miles, if its in good condition and runs good its not a bad price.
You might want to find out if hes raced it alot and had the lift bolts done

That's not a bad price at all, i got mine with 85 or 86k on the clock with a blown motor, all in all, fixed up, costed me around $6.5, if he'll do 7k for it, i think that sounds about perfect, i'd take it to the dealer and pay the $60 or was it $45 for a FULL checkup.

ya, it has a clean original title. it has just little minor dings and a few very small scratches. it is like a 60ish year old man, that really doesnt seem like the racing type. he said it just had a tune up and he always puts synthetic in it and premium gas. when do the lift bolts go bad?

Some people have had lift bolts go bad as early as 30K, some have gone beyond 100K. It really depends, but all 1st generation liftbolts had a tendency to wear prematurely. 3rd generation lift bolts are doing excellent.

Decent price. How old are you though? What is your price range? In my opinion the best car to get right now is a brand new TDI Jetta. If you can get one out of the door for 22 (2 thousand under list) and can get decent financing you can take a 1,300 tax credit and the deduction on sales tax for non itemization.

With the economy we have right now and as young as you are I would look for a car under 5,000. Celicas are decent cars but if you are 19 and I assume you are getting student loans you can not default on student loans. A 7800 dollar car is going to be around 175 a month with interest, which by the way you are going to get ****ing killed on a rate, and insurance costs.

If it were me I would look at a used mid 90s Civic over a Celica.

depends on the condition.

i have a 95 civic now, in case anyone wants to buy it :D and i would be taking out a loan from a family member, without interest, so thats not really an issue.

its in very good condition, with only a few minor dents, and almost a perfect interior.

Its not so much the interest expense on 7,300 dollars that is going to **** you. Sure 11 percent sucks, but on 7,300 over 5 years it is only about 2,000 dollars.

What ****s you is the fact that you have a decent running car now and by paying 7,300 for something you do not need vs something you need and have to pay off (college). The 7,300 would be better put towards student loans that you have and I mean have to pay.

ya thats my problem though. i just had the head gasket replaced, all the belts, including timing, and water pump. it needs a new alternator and now the front suspension or sway bar has a really bad squeak. it has about 164,XXX miles and i just dont want to put any more money into it, and i don't trust driving into chicago everyday. so im just looking for something that looks better and will last me longer

Still be cheaper to replace the rest of the remaining parts considering you have already invested money into the car. Pumps and belts are going to go out on any older than 2000 car.

Why are you driving into chicago every day. Can't you take the "L" downtown?

Celicas are nice cars, but they are by far not the most reliable Toyota out there. Just look at the recalls and TSBs for the car. I would look at a 2000 Corolla for reliability before I looked at a Celica.

Then it is a great price. I traded off a 01 Celica GT with 103,000 miles that bluebooked for 5800 for 5200 and they ended up listing it at 8500. Great deal for a GT-S.
