Mini Broadspeed Coupe (http://www.worldcarfans.com/109072020572/mini-broadspeed-coupe-rumours-emerge)
Broadspeed is a name that was used in the 1960s by a few Mini Coopers which campaigned in racing meets with some success. The racing team responsible for their development also made a road-going version of the car which featured a sleek fastback shape and was nicknamed the Mini Aston.
Nothing is set in concrete but it is understood that Broadspeed is not the final chosen name and also that the Speedster will debut first, followed by the coupe. The car will become the most hard core MINI ever when fitted with a John Cooper Works engine and kit.
I'm suddenly interested in Mini again.
I do like the 1.6L direct injected gem of a motor those things have.
Make it RWD and they'll have a winner.

Hmm. I'd like it if it looks anything like that. Looks like something Big Daddy Roth might draw with a giant, bug-eyed rat behind the wheel :D

lol at the sexyama sig pic. Pro fighter, model, singer and performer that guy does it all. The fight he had in ufc100 was really really close.
If the mini can look something like this picture it would probably be not too bad.
I also remember hearing that it might share its platform with a bmw Z2 if they want to make their lightweight roadster as well.
Which means the mini speedster might come in rwd if bmw plans to share the platform. Pretty unlikely though most reports say it will be based on the regular mini platform and use current drive options.

Akiyama won it fair and square. Rogan and Goldberg are morons for saying Belcher was robbed.
Sharing the platform with the Z2 would make good fiscal sense. 1 platform, 2 dynamically different cars, and everyone's happy.

the rear looks awkward.
Yup. The rims/wheels look way too large for it too and makes it seem... well, not right
They should make both ends smaller/tinier/shorter?

Mini Coupe concept
(http://www.evo.co.uk/news/evonews/240514/mini_coupe_concept.html)
Mad Mini Coupe concept is revealed - 208bhp turbo from JCW
Happily, the whole concept of the car revolves around driving pleasure. Low weight and high power are the order of the day, and while the brand is calling it a prototype for now, we’d be mightily surprised if a version of the Mini Coupe doesn’t make it to production.
At the heart of the Coupe is the 1.6-litre turbo petrol engine from the John Cooper Works hot hatch, with an identical 208bhp and 192lb ft on tap (the latter climbing to 206lb ft via spells of overboost).
That car is manic enough, but with the lighter weight and lower centre of gravity (both achieved with that striking aluminium roof) on offer in the Coupe, as well as a host of potential chassis modifications, it should come close to being a proper sports car. It’ll remain front-engined and front-wheel drive, though.

BMW Exec 1: I know what we'll do!
BMW Exec 2: What's that?
BMW Exec 1: Remember how we took a functional SUV, and made it absolutely useless with the X6, lets do that again, but this time with a Mini!
BMW Exec 2: Yeah, that sounds great. Lets totally **** with the Mini's functionality, keep the exact same chassis and powertrain, and do nothing other than make it far less practical! But we'll charge a lot more! It'll sell like hotcakes.
BMW Exec 1: Brilliant!

You should try driving a mini.
Less weight, lower CG, and better looks? Yes please!
So I'm guessing it's a 2-seater now?

Not a fan of the toupée roof. Overall dimensions are nice though.
Trunk looks bigger with it taking up the back seats.
Err, should not make it rwd. Mini's should always be fwd. It's their dna. Rwd Mini would be like a fwd 911.
This thing should cost the same as a reg mini OR, if more expensive come standard with the S engine. Otherwise, as Marc pointed out, it's a snow job.

MR-S is a great looking car. I'd take one over the Mini roadster/coupe. The Mini's interior is too over the top. The fiat 500 interior is better looking in the retro 60's dept. However if going with a Mini, I agree With Darkceli and I'd go with a reg Cooper S over the "coupe".
