is it possible to have the lcd display like this (http://www.everythingcelica.com/gal2/view_photo.php?set_albumName=interior&id=RedGuages_2001SilverGTS7) even at night as opposed to this (http://www.everythingcelica.com/gal2/view_photo.php?set_albumName=interior&id=ReverseGuagesBlue_Impulse) , where the backgroud of the lcd is also lit?

That effect was only caused by the LEDs. It's just the stock fuel/temp gauge, but with different color LEDs. Apparently, the blue ones were brighter than the reds, so they shined through the entire screen instead of just the parts that were supposed to be lit up.
