I just got a new jensen uv8020. I took the brackets off the factory stereo and mounted it to this and it seemed fine. after hooking everything all up the screen couldnt fit in the trim. I put some washers in behind the bolts to push it out more so it would fit. But now I have two big spaces on the side of my stereo because the trim for the stereo won't fit. any ideas on how to cover up these spaces or what to do next?
Thank in advance
-Heroine
any ideas on how to cover up these spaces or what to do next? They sell spacers for these. Either the OEM Toyota ones (search for the p/n) or I think Metra carries them.

For Toyotas, aftermarket radios have to be iso mounted so you dont use the trim ring at all. Metra sells the side brackets for 20 bucks. I just recently installed the Pioneer Z-2 into the celica and it looks sexy

I'd go here: These look really nice and the finish matches/ looks nice in our cars.

Here's what they look like with my KENWOOD: (This is a picture of a project I started, the Kenwood radio and the side panels are real. :gap:

If you haven't bought a radio yet and thier price is acceptable, they may even throw those in FREE, as well as the wiring adapters to wire into the cars electrical harness.
The only down side to this and any mounting system that uses the OEM brackets, is that the headunit ALWAYS sticks out further than the opening. Why cant someone make a radio that allows it to sit FLUSH with bezel opening, like the OEM radios do.
I've thought of modifying a set of radio brackets, but right now I have bigger fish to fry..:gap:

I stand corrected! Who knew! (NOT ME!) Bet there more than $12!
Bet they're more than $12! $11.73 ea. :(
The Metra 95-8202, @ around $10.50, is considerably cheaper.

From the look of it, they seem to have metal sides, may be worth the extra $$.
