When I am shooting in m mode now to try and play with the settings I am getting weird pics, like colors that are suposed to be there. Sometimes error 99 pops up(looking for my little booklet to see what it means).... It works just fine in full auto mode. ANy suggestions?

What camera are you using?

I did a quick search and a guy said to use a pencil eraser to rub the electrical contacts of both the lens and the camera. Make sure the shavings don't fall into the camera.

It fix the error 99 for the guy.

Try a different lens and tell me what happens. If the camera isn't that old then return it.

Blasphemy...canon is the only way to go. Nah, really you can't got wrong with either. I prefer Canon over Nikon because to me they are more user friendly and that is what I started on. I also don't like how on most Nikon's I have used I have to go through a bunch of windows to change some settings that can be changed on the fly with a Canon w/o having to go through menus. However, both are great cameras and as with anything mass produced you can get some bad apples. I am sure Canon will fix you right up. Is this a new camera or used?
