thanks on the compliments, the car is going to be shot for SuperStreet and shoudl be on sheleves sometime this fall, also AutoWorld mag is releasing a tuner mag and johns mr2 got some coverage for it too this past weekend at HIN. The car took Best Toyota and 4th overall this past weekend at HIN Chicago... alot more has happened and you may be seeing ALOt and i do mean ALOT of this car in the public eye soon, but i really dont wanna say too much right now details are kinda sketchy and things are still up in the air

I just saw that car at HIN Chicago and I don't care what the judges say...it was the best car there. I've got a really sweet pic of it from the show that I'm working on and will post in this thread. The only thing odd about the car was the choice of a non-intercooled turbo system.

Its very difficult to intercool a rear or midships mounted engine if the vehicle was not originally designed to accomodate an intercooler. Space and airflow back in the engine compartment are at a premium, and the best bet (a top mounted air to air or remote mounted air to water) would both take a LOT of work to rig up.

yes this is correct but we opted to go with the Top Secret Intercooler system that is a top/rear mount... prob will be most effient setup, john wants a Front mount and a top mount but at this time its just not fesable due to cost, time, and most importantly i think loss of pressure

I wish I had a picture of the inside of the engine compartment. There was actually alot of room back there. I feel a good air/air unit wouldn't be that hard to rig up with those side scoops in that kit. Make them functional, fabricate some ducting, and make the fake vent at the back functional, and there you go. There seemed to be a decent amount of good fabrication work on that car, I think they could easily handle this project.

I would have to take RJ's MRS over this one just out of preference of wheels, color and timing. RJ was the first in the US with it on, boosted and displayed at SEMA in October. That beast was bad ass. He was happy with it, but focused on his then up and coming drag car.

In the end they are both bad ass MRSs. They both look great.

yeah they are both bad ass rides but 2 totally different cars, the yellow does nothing for me on his car, something about a bright color on the mrs fourtune kit that just doesnt go well with me, second lets talk interior... momo vs bride? clearly the brides and the veilside steering wheel and 6 veilside gauges in carbon fiber pods stand out more to me, yes RJ has his 19" wheels witch is kewl i'd sport my own **** too, but the Veilside wheels on johns car complete the car i think john has veilside inside and out, the only thing john didnt do that RJ did was the veilside turbo were john opted the top secret kit.. and they put out very similar numers...

All around, the VeilSide MR2 is one of my strong favorites. The esthetics of the car are phenomenal. The bodykit puts the car up a few levels. Just incredible.

I'm starting to like the Spyder more and more. If only the car came with more power from the factory, I'd be all over it. So can anyone break down a list of turbo kits that are ACTUALLY available for the Spyder?

Yeah but why? A dedicated water to air is more efficient and can be managed more easily. And I didn't say they couldn't do it, I said it would be a lot of work :) Theres a big diff.

Why not a water to air system? I would think that would be a teeny bit more efficient and easier to plumb up due to teh much smaller size of the water lines. Either way will be good tho - I'm just curious ;)

i would rather have that car for 50,000 than any other car around that price.
seriously 25000 for the car and 25000 for all the stuff added on it isn't that bad for what it became...

That's a nice car, a really nice car. It's a little pricey for me tho. I would have to drop all that dough on a Supra instead. I just like them a little more and I know that 750 hp is easily acheivable with all that cash and you still have greenies left over to Veilside the hell out of it too. Hell Christian's is running 750 hp and 32 lbs of boost. It looks like a total sleeper for Supras. The only thing on it from the outside is a front lip and some 17" OZs, and a visable exhaust (Greddy I think).

thats about what i figured.. just playing around with some stuff in my head but the Veilside kit is compltely molded right?? so if you were to get an MRS that was in an acident you could essneitally fix it assuming no frame damage by purchasing the kit and having it molded.. then turbo it which i have my sources and the rest is basics.. its funny it sounds like alot but at the same time my Eclipse was 15,000 and I ahve about 14,000 invested in it.. so it is possible.. just dont know if I wanna do it again :)

there is nothing molded in on this kit, the MRS Veilside WIdebody consists of 11 replacement panels, the only thing that stays is the 2 doors and the rear engine cover. only thing "molded" onto the car was the top peice along the top of the door, other than that it was pretty much a bolt on kit..

Yeah - you need to see it up closse Lar - it is soooo tite. I mean, I genberally poo poo body kits - I think a lot of them just add weight and take away from the car, but D-amnnnnn this thing looks even better in person. Only think I didn't care for was the spoiler / rear deck fit. If I remember there were some clearance and support issues with the spoiler. But considering this is a complete kit thats a VERY small issue.

larryd
07-07-2002, 12:53 AM
ok, so does it bolt on on top of the OEM pieces or does it replace the OEM pieces?

CIN
07-07-2002, 07:37 AM
It replaces the OEM panels and I think it is actually lighter so it even saves some weight.

veilside02celi
07-07-2002, 10:27 AM
yes replaces OEM panels except the top door peices the go over the OEM doors... the entire 1 box from Veilside weighed a mear 65lbs!!!! so removing sheetmetal and replacing it the FRP had to be a weight reduction as well :)
