Hey guys.
The time has come to replace the tires on my GT, and I was wondering if they can fit 205 tired instead of the regular 195.
The stock GT rims are 6.5 inches wide. and they currently have 195/60/R15
So if I went 205, I would need a 205/55/R15 I believe.
Anyone done this before?
Thanks!

I've run 205-50-15 on 15x6.5 wheels. If you can find 205-55-15, they will be fine.

I run 205 on my stock gt rims (summer tires).
It's worth it...

Not to thread jack, but whats the widest you can go on a stock gt wheel? I think I read somewhere that its like 225? thanks

Thanks guys!
205 I will get.
Blackfox, I think you need 8.0 wide rims to run 225, maybe 7.5 wide but not sure.

205/50 is more correct even though 205/55 is more common. The difference between the two is not noticeable.

For performance applications you want it closer to the 90%. Although you can fit a 225 on a 6.5 width rim it's not recommended as it's at 73%, not good for a performance application. A 205 tire is the widest I would recommend for a 6.5" rim (80%).

Hi,
I haven't looked into performance factors using 225's but just from a "WILL IT FIT" and not rub standpoint, 225's do fit but with respect to aeshetics, this size looks "fat" on a stock rim. I used a 205 touring tire for longevity and wet/snowy traction. Most touring tires don't come in 205/55/15. I just went through the "tire research" a few weeks ago. Good luck!
