I heard of one N/A 1ZZ making 185 WHP, but it took over $10,000 to get there. If you want big HP numbers with a 1ZZ, turbocharging is the way to go.

I would have to rebuild my engine if i stand correctly?:shrugs: i really want to get close to 300 hp or sum near...thinking of swaping to 2zz buh thats like double the money

~250 whp on stock internals before you risk rod failure.

celi1990

well if you're shooting for 300, turbo. the 2zz will be a better engine to mod but cost more in the end imo.

and where in FL are you located?

ANYWAYZZZZZ its not seen often and some say only the stig has one but 220+ is possible on a 1zz with stock motor.

You may want to give up the pipe dream of 300+ whp on a Celica on a High School kids budget.

Your looking at 8 or 9 grand.

If you want 300hp I would honestly wait and get a 2zz to mod if you want to stay in the Celica brand.

Im not sayin exactly 300 hp just close to it...ill be like flyin

Exactly with student loans and 8 or 9 grand you could pay off college with any private loans.

Here is the best thing you can do right now in high school. It is called leveraging.

If you want to spend 8-9 grand and get 300 hp, I'd really look at getting a used RWD or AWD car for that money. You really won't be able to hook up that much power with FWD. But it's up to you.

And what restaurant is that? I'm trying to get a job too. :chuckles:

although it may run on stock internals, i imagine that it would wear out some parts a lil faster than normal, right? or am i wrong?

i have a 1zz as well and i wanna go turbo somewhere in the future, but im just curious if the turbo is all ill need (obviously along with everything needed to hook it up properly) or if i need to replace some parts so i wont be doing maintainace every weekend. i have a lil over 100k miles on my car so i wont be surprised if some problems pop up due to wear and tear...

Stop right there, do not do anything he tells you.

Of course it will, but your going to wear out built internals too.

If your worried about the longevity of your engine, don't boost it.

Soon2beriding
08-05-2009, 09:01 PM
i run 226 whp and 205 torq and is fun...been turbo is also less reliable

but still worth it !!

u can stay under 250whp and be safe but if you want more i'll cost u another 2-3 grand to upgrade the rods, piston and other things to the motor..

btw V3 have you check your compression #'s yet? have they gone down much? just wondering how much wear does a turbo 1zz does to the engine without going to much wild on it

what kind of bike does he have? I also have a 2002 yamaha r1

dont trust that guy at meineke. everyone around here is out get someone one way or another. go to a trustworthy shop or dont do it at all. stay away from those hole in the wall performance shops, too.

i can trus the guy at meineke. bc he is my sis bf. hes goin to do it as a side
job for the fun of it after he finishes up with this 240 build. or i can jus use
the tools at this shop;) he also said that he can get me sum hook up at a close toyota dealers since he used to work for them too

yea the main reason im thinking of going boosted is cuz of how fun it seems. as for the maintainance part, im studying to be a mechanical engineer and focusing mainly on cars and even more on the engine, so maybe getting my hands dirty and trying to fix problems myself might save me some money and give me a lil more knowledge of what really goes into it. obviously i might have to try working on old junkers or other cars first before i work on mine since mines a DD, but ill eventually get to the stage where i can do anything myself... at least i HOPE to get to that point :) but for right now, going boosted is nothing more than a dream off in the distance... :(

he is banging your sister not you. It is still going to run you 10,000 which should come in no time with all the money you will be making at the restaurant. College is not for you we understand. You have better things to spend money on at your age. Makes my job just a little bit easier without competition.

When building a turbo setup there are three things you need to remember:

Low cost, High power, reliability.

You can only pick two.

yeah . . . . this kid will wind up with a bolt on exhaust and intake and call it a day.

Or he will go to college see people in BMWs, Audis, Porsches, etc banging hotties and try to find a quick way just to get rid of the car. By that time he should have intake and exhaust so yea I agree with you.

Only turbo a car if you do not have plans to get rid of it, otherwise you are going to take a massive loss on depreciation and I would not turbo charge a daily driver.

Here you go. Sell your car and buy this one. It will be cheaper.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2004-celica-show-car-fully-customed-turbo_W0QQitemZ200371190255QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_C ars_Trucks?hash=item2ea70db9ef&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245

Oh and since it is a dealer car and probably Joe Domo's car I am sure they will take 8,500.

The car is worth about 6,500-7,000. Now if someone bids on that car I will give you my nut sack free shipping.
