Gonna start on the topic for competition 5 a day early so people can get a head start on taking those pictures!

topic of the week: portraits!

Man, I've gotta think of a great way to get these threads attention.
I probably will cross advertise them across the forums I moderate.
I'll go see if that is fine with the other moderators, as well as GSBoek who mods the Noob section.

I think the only rule is that the picture has to have been taken by you. You cannot submit someone else's work as your own.

submit one picture to me. it has to be an orignal picture. you can use a program to touch up the photo but you cannot alter the photo to where it completely messed up the composition. for example, like photoshopping a person you took a picture into another background or making a green apple to a red one (if the topic was red apples).

other than that, nothing really more. the deadline is usually a week after the competition is posted. i usually wait an extra day just in case anyone submits a late one.

Rule of thumb is, however makes the thread, is in charge of setting things up unless otherwise stated. :wiggle:

Thanks for the info. Btw, does the photo have to be shot within the time period of the competition, or can it be one that is taken before? Another forum I participated in required it be taken within the time period, but it's usually two weeks.

making a green apple to a red one (if the topic was red apples).

That would be funny if anyone did this rather than just taking a red apple.

it doesn't really matter to me. i think as long as you took the photo regardless of how old it is, you can still submit it. but that's just me. any other opinions?

we should allow photos from any date, IMO.

I didn't read any date restrictions so I posted my favorite portrait.

as of right now, i only have one submission other than myself.

yeah i don't think there should be a date regulation. as long as you took the picture and you didn't do anything to drastically change it, everything should be a-ok.
