hey, I was at the shop the other day to get my flywheel/clutch installed and the guy was telling me about a flywheel he just installed on my friends ITR. Apparently it is made by JUN and it is counter-balanced. From what he explains it to be, it has weights on it, so when you rev up it acts just like a normal flywheel, alot faster, but when the revs drop, say between a shift, it only drops at half the rate it went up.

I thought this was amazing, Its like having all the benefits of a lightweight flywheel, but none of the negatives. Anyone know how this works and if there is any flywheel like it available for the Celica?

oh yeah and btw, while I was at the shop I saw a Civic Si that he was completely redoing the block/head/fuel system and putting in a huge turbo. It had a front mount and a hondata system, a 50 shot of nitrous to spool the turbo. They are expecting 11s on race gas and street tires. Its really a nice car.

Didn't the supra have somethign like this? I know it didn't just have a solid regular flywheel.

All flywheels are balanced. The flywheel being installed on the ITR is one with a lightened moment of inertia. Weight is removed from the outer radius of the flywheel, but it must be balanced so small weights will be required to re-balance it. Generally, those flywheels will weigh between 12 and 7 lbs for the ITR depending on what he bought, who made it and the application. You could do the same with your Celicas.
