After googling the only solution I found was to get an external controller to set the camera to take a shot every x seconds.. is there any other way?
I want to experiment and make a video like this:

Thanks :]

Nope, that's pretty much the only way that I can think of.

have you read your camera manual?

I can assure you that the camera won't do it natively.
edit: If you install your camera's software, the EOS utility will allow you to take a shot as often as once every 5 seconds. And you can shoot as long as 99 minutes, 59 seconds. When you're using the software, you can transfer the images directly to the computer and/or save them to the card.

so basically, buy a laptop and hook it up?
im getting a macbook pro really quick here, so that'll be my temporary solution. a timelapse can take up sooo much of the flash card.
