:chuckles: Doh, sorry to cast a shadow over your head in the last post. You should leave it off because you seem to like the sound a lot, and that's cool. Although there is no performance gain, the butterfly removal DOES make the engine sound more intimidating down low. As for the K&N, it to does not give any significant performance gain, but it DOES last a lot longer then the stock one in that you can use it over and over again by cleaning it periodically. They are both mods that DO something, they are just not performance mods. That's all I was really trying to say back in the last thread.

im with chris, get CAI, i have gutted & Drilled airbox and K&N in my coug. CAI is not an option for cougar owners, thats why i just went with the k&n, they have different intake setups like weapon R for cougar, but no true CAI so i said **** it.

I'd leave it off. It's not like it is going to hurt anything not being there.

Well, you are getting more air into the engine at low RPMs, so the ECU says "hey, I see more air, so I am gonna throw in more gas to keep the A/F ratio optimal." If anything, THAT may be the reason you saw those slightly different numbers on the dynos you posted earlier as well. Makes sense to me.

who reallly cares?!?! all i'm saying is go out and get urself a REAL intake and stop trying to do cheap mods. if you don't have any money, don't mod your car. simple as that. my .02

also, if you want an intake, go buy one from the newcelica.org store. we have the BEST prices. also, get urself an intake, how many times do i hafta tell newbies...really, get an intake.

some one did a dyno on it with and without butterfly way back.
The peak power is less than 1hp but the low end gain was seen.
Butt dynos of people said that it feels like more torque.
Although it's better to get a CAI to see more gains, removing butterfly is good fix until u get one.
To put it simply, it's better because it allows more air to travel into the filter.

One bhp is well under 2% of the power output of the car which essentially means... NO DIFFERENCE. It's the difference in the Loudness and Sound Quality...
