ALright, i told bat i was looking at his vinyl and when i saw the upper grill insert and i was wondering if he could possible make an extension of this piece. A stripe that would extend from the front of the hood indent to under the hoodscoop. Would anyone be interested in buying one of these if bat were to put his talent to work???

Hehe. Your right though Ben. More Vinyl will be required of this kit, Plus, it will have to be shipped in a shipping cylinder. I'm game though if we get enough interest:).

I'm in.... totally.
For the large front hood....and possibly the stock spoiler.
Although, I think for the larger ones... I'll see if a local window tinting shop could put them on well or something, I'd want those ones to come out perfect.
....and I could reorder the tail and 3rd break light kits I f^cked up..... hehe.

I'm in, but what color for a white car? And what's the new kit for the stock wing, something like the Kaminari cf stock wing?

Blue Batmobile
07-04-2002, 01:59 PM
As far as a white car goes, it all depends on what kind of color scheme you got goin' with yer car.

On the stock wing overlay, I'm still playing around with different ideas.

I appreciate all the interest guys. I want to do the kit first, make sure it's up to my usual standards before I start taking orders. As soon as pics are posted, then you can order. As far as price goes, with shipping and all, we're looking at about $36. CF will ofcourse cost more, probably around $41. I'm going to my supplier tomorrow, hopefully they will be open. I work on ther kit this weekend and hope to have pics up by Sunday. Pretty good turnaround, especially since this thread was only started yesterday! Wish me luck!

Go with either silver ( if you have silver rims ) or carbon fiber if you have (black or gunmetal rims. IMO

IMO Carbon fiber stickers look good on smaller parts, but IMHO, they look kinda cheezy on large parts like the center of the hood. On small parts, you may not notice if it's real or fake carbon fiber (depending on the quality of the vinyl), but it's very apparent on larger parts.

Very true, that's why I'm opting not to do CF finish on my hood.

Silver would look nice on CB.
With red, you can go different directions depending on yer color scheme. White or silver would look very nice on red:).

Great guys! Thanks for all the support. I've been looking around town for places that would do this for me before i knew about newcelica. I guess proposing the idea to Bat was a good idea and i'm glad that this is turning out to be something that so many of you want to join in on. Thanks again.
PS (CarbonBlueo2) White would def look hot on ur car. do it! do it!

I don't even know bat. i checked somewhere but they said that they couldn't do it because of the the curves and whatnot; that it would have to be done by a prof. place where they could use the computers to get the exact cuts. They said it would prob. be expensive. no idea how much tho

Blue Batmobile
07-06-2002, 02:57 PM

I purchased some vinyl today for the hood centerstripe overlay. I bought Charcoal Metallic which looks similar to the pic Bomber chopped. Looks really nice. If I have time tomorrow, I'll start fitting the kit:).

Just finished the kit! I worked 4 hours from start to finish and I must say it looks very nice:)! One little technicality though, my vinyl wasn't wide enough to do a one piece kit:(. I was i" short on the ends, so I basically had to make 2 pieces for the main Overlay. It still looks nice though. the only alternative is to get 24" wide vinyl, which means the price of the kit goes up. I washed my car and I'm taking pics tomorrow. Don't know if I'll have them posted tomorrow night, but Thursday for sure. Let me know what you guys think of the 2 piece dilema. Like I said before, I can get wider vinyl, but the kit will cost more.

Bat

I'd be willing to pay the extra $ to have the single piece. :)

So how hard was it to install?

Blue Batmobile
07-10-2002, 07:12 PM
It was extremely difficult. Even with using soap and water. The vinyl is 2.5 feet long by 16.5 inches wide. That's alot of vinyl to work with. Especially with the curves! I think what I will end up doing, is offer both types. A one piece and a two piece. Obviously, the 2 piece kit will be cheaper. On a scale of 1 to 10 on install of the one piece, 10 being the most difficult, I give the one piece kit a 9+! the two piece, a 4.

I don't think it'd be really that hard to install as long as you take your time and use enough soapy water to be able to move it around if you need to. I worked with vinyl very frequently for a year in my photo tech class my senior year at high school. Yeah, it can be a pain, but if you take your time and have some patience it's much easier than you'd think.
So I'm thinking about this, and I'm eventually gonna get a CF hood.. So you think a white one would go nice to match the car, or would it just look better with staying carbon fiber?
Bat, you're not allowed to respond since we all know you're biased. ;)

Bat, when you do the overlay for peeps like me that has the TRD covers, IMO it'll look good if the overlay's shiny instead of smoked or smoke can be an option, I dunno.

Make a rectangular carbonfiber overlay that can go behind the plates on the truck:D

The new smoke tint I am using looks alot like the smoke tint on Jotan's old Celica. Clear but dark, not frosted like the tint I've been using.
