For installing new speakers in the Celi, did any of you use adapters?

Or did you just cut out the speakers and use the stock housing/adapters to mount the new ones?

It all depends on if you plan on taking the car back to stock later on. Cutting out the stock speaker and putting in the new one would be the easiest install.

I pulled my stock speakers then drilled new mounting holes for the new ones.

I really dont plan on going back to stock...But cutting out speakers sounds like a better idea.

i purchased alpine speakers and they came with a bracket. only two of the holes on the car aligned correctly for the bracket, i had to buy a 2" extension from home depot to make it fit.

Alright. Speakers are in. Decided to use the adapters, since cutting out the stock speakers seemed like a pain in the ass at the moment.

dont the stock speakers simply unscrew? the plastic surround is rivetted in, but you should be able to mount speakers on that so they clear the window safetly when its rolled down. i actually just spliced into the wires i needed all over the car, leaving the plugs and what not intact. ended up going back to oem components later and they actually sound pretty darn good.

before you get flamed, give the forum a good 'search button' lookover. you might be surprised as to what you find. but back to your questions:

the extra two are tweeters mounted higher up in the doors. little things, nothing but highs coming from them.

the surrounds are riveted on and if you for some reason feel like removing them, they must be drilled out. id just stick with 6.5's and leave the surrounds in the car and mount the new speakers to the old surrounds. get a set of components for up front for some good sound. ive got a set of infinity's for sale if yorue interested. pm me! and good luck, its not that tough to replace it all

i got sony xplod either 6x7 or 6x9 (forget what size :/) and just mounted them on the interiour panel panel that goes over them, had to cut a pretty intersting hole in them though.. drilled out one of the stock ones and installed it then moved to the other side and mounted everything then put the pannel back on and realised there was still a stock speaker on one side that we forgot to drill out.. hasnt caused any problems though

just be very careful when cutting if you do it this way :sadpace: you dont wanna mess up the interior

and the old speaker holes dont really show up that much, the flash is just really bright on my camera

That looks stupid..way to do something you can't reverse.

it looks alot nicer in person, and i could always buy a new interior. if i had cut away at the metal it would of been impossible to reverse and there was no other way to mount them

There is other ways to mount them..you just don't ask before you do.

i wasnt on this site yet when i did it and the person who was helping me install them had said those are the only 2 ways we could get it to work

so how do i take out those wierd screws or nails holding the surrounds because i have never see those before and with what

you drill them out, just find a drill bit thats around the same size as them

You should of been able to use a adapter that mounts in the stock holes. Last time I checked I think there was enough room behind the panel to bring the speaker out quite a bit.

Those are rivets..^^drill out like he said.

i had the speaker flush in the whole thats already there, and the panel wouldnt go back on, as it is now they still pull the panel out a little bit when they are on the outside of it
