I just had a new exhaust installed (ractive) and I was all excited, but when I went to pick my car up it didnt sound any different. It sounded just like my factory exhaust. The mechanic told me it was because of the converter or something. I was just wondering if he was telling me the truth or if he just talked me into getting a crappy exhaust and if i've been had.

You should have checked what kind of exaust would give you a better sound before you bought this one. Not all exausts will give you a different sound.

For now, you can take out the butterfly in your airbox. That will change the sound of the exaust, or even better, get yourself a short ram intake or a CAI..................

I think the mechanic meant the resonator. It's right after the cat, and is the most restrictive part of the exhaust.

BTW, do you feel any performance gains? I've been looking for a quiet universal exhaust.

How do you break in a muffler? They normally will wear out but if he didn't notice any difference at all then driving around for awhile will not change that.

You are joking, right ?????

Don't give stupid answers. They are asking because they don't know.

maybe he installed the muffler AFTER the big main muffler (instead of the small tiny tip-resonator)...
