HELP!
I am having a problem with my 2000 GTS (28K). About 40% of the time when I give the car gas (mostly hard) my RPMs shoot way up but my car doesn't move, then the RPMs start to fall and the car starts to move. It sucks!!!
Here is what I think it is,
I have a Rod M. Short Air Intake. About a week after instalation, my check engine light came on, however nothing for the last 6 months has been different with the car. The light is still on.

It could be that my O2 sensor is gone?
Or it could be that my Intake is giving the car too much air?
Or I need a new clutch. The only problem is that it doesn't only happen when I shift. If I am in 6th on the Highway and give it gas hard it happens.

I was thinking of buying a COLD AIR INJIN intake and having some pro's install it. Maybe also buying a new O2 sensor from toyota. Would this solve the problem, or am I way off??? For the love of GOD please help!

Sounds just like a clutch.

Clutch, the intake has nothing to do with it (assuming the clutch pedal is fully released when this odd revving occurs).

there was another post somewhere w/ clutches and being in sixth gear, giving it gas and rpms go up but no acceleration. i have a gt but it sounds to me like your clutch is slipping.

if your check engine light is on, try to take off your neg battery and it will reset your car. do it for like 10 minutes. if it comes back and does the same problem, put your stock intake back on and drive on it until the check engine light turns off. i did that and everything was and still is okay.

Better clutch is not needed... Being easier on the clutch (not riding it, or doing massive slip or hard launches) will help it last. Most 'normal' drivers will get 80K+ out of a stock clutch, and that's autocrossing the car regularly.

well im jus saying...... if imma get another clutch, then its gonna be a better one that can hold longer like ACT or TRD....... its no fun trying to make your clutch last longer when u can't launch your car
