Guys,

I went to the street drags at Eastern Creek on Wednesday.

There was a ZZT231 Celica running. It had chrome wheels and a rather ugly batman style rear spoiler (no skirts or frontbar), and a Apex'i N1 knock-off exhaust.

Anyway, I thought it would be interesting to see what a lightly modified Celi would run.

The guy claimed the dubious honour of recording the slowest run of the night - 20.0 seconds! His best run was 16.9 seconds. Lets just say that he did nothing to dispel the 'looks fast' attitude towards our cars.

There was a Type R (DC2 model) that ran 14.7 seconds. It had drag slicks on the front and a half roll-cage, so I'd say he was a fairly serious track racer.

The stand-out was the Rigoli Datsun 1200 ute which ran 8.5 seconds at 250km/h. Amazing! It didn't even wheelstand!

Does anybody know who the Celica driver was?

I also saw a guy in a red Celica with the Toyota 17" wheels and parked right next to him. He ran away as fast as he could to ensure that I didn't get a chance to talk to him - tosser!

16.9?! eep!

has anyone here ever run their celica on an australian drag strip?
i know theres been a heap raced over in the states, but afaik they dont run any traction compound on their tracks over there, and it would be interesting to see how that affects our 60ft times.

yeah i seen that car matty!
got "timeup" on the number plates. no middle bit on hiw wing.
u should be able to better 20 seconds even without hitting vvtli.
major disapointment.
do they look like 17 or 18" rims.\
maybe he got 18's combined with a s#$# exhuast to slow his car down

I just think dude couldn't drive.

He took off at about 2,000RPM and hit rev-limiter in first - the guy needs driving lessons! My wife could run a faster 1/4!

You could EASILY beat 20 secs without hitting VVTL-i. There was a stock Laser running 17 seconds!

The worst part was the other guys giving me s@%t about owning a Celica when it was the slowest car there!

Fair dinkum - that stupid lookin' riced up Excel ran faster than 20 seconds.

I thought the guy must have blown his engine or stuffed his clutch or something, but he lined up for another run!

How embarrassment

maybe sumone buttered up his pedals!
hehehe
:wiggle:
anyways lets hope he can improve if he's gonna keep goin to the track. the number plate doesnt suit the car pulling times like that!

Disapointing to say the least. Put it down to driver inexperience. Hopefully I'll give it a go at the 1/4 track at A.I.R when summer comes around this year.

That is a dead set shocker before the Celica I had a BMW 318is and even I managed a 16.5 and that more weight and less power than the Celica. I agree with everyone else the dude obviously cannot drive or his clutch is stuffed maybe
