Well I'm visiting my parents this whole week (I'm on vacation) and the craziest thing happened. I usually park my car in the garage while I am visiting my parents house, but I came home late last night from a friend's house and so I had to park my car outside. As I pulled into the driveway last night I saw like 5 kittens run from my yard. Why they were there?? I have no idea. We don't have cats nor do we ever feed any around our house. Anyways, about noon-time today I pop the hood to disconnect my battery to reset the ecu (CEL light came on last night for the first time ever!!) and I hear rustling inside my engine bay.... so I look down under the tranny and guess what I see? A KITTEN! Now i've heard the horror stories of cats sleeping in peoples engine bays, but never thought it would happen in mine. So I try everything from setting off my alarm to trying to push him out with a stick and hes just too scared to move. My dad keeps saying to turn on the engine cuz that would scare him out, but I'm afraid that hes gonna get caught in one of the belts so I try using water instead. I get the hose and let water flow at the bottom of my engine bay (just flow along the bottom engine plastics) and the cat doesnt come out. I then turn off the water and use the hose to push him towards an opening and finally he jumps out! So I check again around to see if theres any more and I find 2 more kittens hiding under my engine! To make a long story short, I get the 2nd cat out and he runs off and there are 2 more again! So there were 4 kittens in my engine bay total and the 3rd cat jumped out and then jumped back in again! He was away from moving parts of the engine so I just turn on my engine and he jumps out. I waited for the last to jump out but never saw him go. I looked everywhere carefully and waited a bit to listen for movement and nothing. So I figured he jumped out without me seeing him. An hour went by trying to get these cats out of my car! I wanted to wait to make sure the last one really got out, but my dad was in a hurry and so we had to take off with the car. I'm guessing the last cat got out before we drove off cuz i'm sure we would have known if he was still in there. I really felt bad for them tho.... They were so small and scared....

Lesson learned. If there are kittens in your area, check your engine to make sure they arent sleeping in there! :)

I just had to take a picture of it. (poor kittens..... :( )

I remember as a kid my Mom and I were suprised to find out that a cat had taken refuge in the engine compartment of my Mom's car.

Unfortunately, we found this out after the car was started. Ugh. Called Dad home to play coroner and make the garage safe again.

To this day, I'm spooked when I see a neighbor's pet get into my garage.

One question though, how would they get in your engine bay?

Aww, it's so cute. :wiggle:

My boyfriend has that problem with his cars that he's modding/working on that sit in his driveway. In his Corvette, he's found a cat near the engine. And in his Pontiac, he's found Chipmunks living in his chrome bumper. :chuckles: I think it's pretty funny 'cause he gets all upset that animals are using his car for a home.

If you get the kitten out, keep it! :)

Kittens are cool!! Cats are always sleeping on or under my car. I think for some odd reason, cats are attracted to Celicas...it could be the headlights that attract them.

my cat always sleeps on top of my car if he manages to sneak into the garage. he also loves to scratch his claws on my tires and sit around the car.

I'm glad you took the time to get them out. I've got a soft spot for small animals. So good job.

Similar thing happened to me. I have a house cat and it was missing all day. My dad came home from work an parked in the garage. An hour later we found my cat in hte garage cover with grease and trying to get in the house. It was early winter. My cat had sneaked in to the garage and climbed into the engine cause it was warm. Stayed in there 8 hours while my dad was working and then jumped out when he got home. Couldn't believe he was found or still alive.

Awww...

Man...having a cat will really make you feel alot closer to that topic....

My wife got all emotional when I read her the story. Heheh.

It's her first REAL animal, and she's really bonded with the thing. Kinda funny cuz she absolutely hated animals before we got it. Now she's a sucker for anything fuzzy and cuddly. :D
