Clay is awesome! It';s the only thing I have found to get old bugs off. ...Of course claying the entire car takes a quite some time, especially since you need to wax (Zaino) it when you are done.

I myself would stick with either the Mother's or Clay Magics. Those are the ones you can usually find locally. Zainos I find comaparable to both of the above ones. Nowadays I use Clay Magics as it's only $10 bones.

Meguiars seems to leave residue, the texture is too gritty. So it comes apart and leaves streaks that are a PITA to remove.

My $.02

OK I have a question. Does the claybar strip off wax and polish when you use it? Or do I need to somehow get that off first and then claybar it?

The clay will strip the polish and wax off, including any impurities that are stuck on the car. ie: bird poop, dried on bugs, tar splatter from hot new road surfaces. Some people (zaino users) also suggest washing with Dawn dish soap to strip the wax and then use the clay for any leftovers and the impurities.

When you do this the car is 'naked' and needs to be polished/waxed immediately (same day) if you want to preserve your paint job.

Thanks for the info, I already knew about having re-polish and wax it. I think all of that will be a good way to waste a Sunday.

While I don't usually like most Mother's products, their claybar works very well. I only bought it the first place because it it virtually impossible for me to find the Meguiars kit down here.
