Miscellaneous info on future cars

Just got a chance to browse through new Sept issues of road and track and motor trend (wow, they're coming out earlier and earlier). I forget what info was from where. Here are a few tidbits:

1. Redesigned Honda Accord coupe. Not as nasty as the sedan redesign posted a little while ago, but wholly unoriginal. The taillights are almost exactly like the MB SL coupe's lights. The Headlights are rip offs of the new Nissan Altima. Supposedly 3.0L V6 will have 240 hp to compete with 3.6(?)L V6 in the Altima.

2. BMW Z4. Designs carried over from BMW's concept roadster with swoopy lines. 300+ hp M version to follow.

3. Possible introduction of a coupe version of the Miata. Concept vehicle a welcomed idea in Japan, mainly to female drivers b/c a coupe won't mess up their hair. From pics, the rear lights will adopt the Altezza-esque lights found in the new Mazda 6.

4. Toyota planning to reintroduce the Supra to compete with the Z. Price will be around $30k. NO OTHER INFO GIVEN.

5. Article on new Z. This was a cover story, so I'll talk about it for a little. 5.4 sec 0-60mph. 14.1 in the 1/4 mile. 0.88 g (i think) . Navy bluish color was amazing. That'd be the one I'd buy. Starts below $27,000, yada yada goes up to $34k for track version with brembo brakes and pistons and upgraded wheels. I was a bit surprised that it looked like a strictly 2 seater. I thought the previous Z can hold 2 ppl in the rear. Maybe I'm wrong.

6. Toyota's Scion CCX (not the van, but the matrix-like one) will not be in production. The BBX (the van) will be. Article expressed the opinion that a separate Scion brand is unnecessary: where will the youth-driven Matrix fit in if Scion is supposed to do that?

7. Baby Lambo to compete with 360 modena. Smaller in size but with same power as Murcielago from a different engine. Cheaper than its big brother but more expensive than the modena to make buyers think that higher price means better performance. So why buy the Murcielago?

8. 2005 corvette revealed. Rear fender flare resemble stingray vettes from the 60's.

9. High performance RS6 from Audi will be released in US.

a friend of mine has already purchased and is waiting for that High performance RS6.. twin turboed, 400 hp, he gets it October i believe.. ill take some pics of it.. mebbe a video.. oh he also has an Aston Martin V12 Anquish being manufactured for him.. hes one rich guy, hes only 21 too.. :sad: makes me kinda jealous..

okay then.... #4 it is.... i was looking at the evo, then heard it was gonna be crap, then i looked at g35 coupe, but if supra is around the same price..... its a no-brainer.....keep it in the family..... :D

hopefully by then i wont be a broke grad student, start saving now..... 99 cent hamburgers at jackin the box everyday, anyone?

Yeah but wan't the supra priced at +#35,000 for the turbo version? The $30,000 might be the non-turbo. Either way it'll be great to have it available again. More cred for the toyota name.

Ok, I think you meant the August issues of R&T and Motortrend. Where did you find the info on the Supra? I looked thru my MT and R&T and nothing.....

that one.. the orange one... was said to be called the 4000gt, give or take a few letters/numbers..... i think it'll be toyotas answer to the NSX... not as a supra replacement. this ones probably gonna be up there...

was in motortrend or another of those car mags.

Well, the august issue shown on the website didn't look like the ones i saw in the store, so i just assumed it was the sept one. Sorry if it was incorrect.

the orange version looks very much like 2000 mrs spyder, and a 1993 mr2.


the front of the car looks like a mr2 sypder and the side vent and rear look like a 1991 mkII.

i was reading one web site and it said the orange pic was a possible 8th gen celica look at the lights does that not resemble ours?
