I've recently started monsterEVO.com, a US-based Mitsubishi Evolution Global Community Website, dedicated to EVO enthusiasts from around the world. The site is partially completed for review at the moment but the message board is fully functioning!
I'm asking for your participation and to help promote this site. I don't own an EVO (for obvious reasons) but that would soon change when EVO comes to US in 2003. monsterEVO.com was created out of personal interests and I hope it would help the EVO community grow in US!
If you have any questions or comments, please email me at monsterevo@yahoo.com, or you can visit monsterEVO.com (http://www.monsterevo.com) now!
Also, I was contacted by Warrender UK that a LHD US Spec WRC 440 Tuned EVO VII will be arriving at JFK airport end of July. Read more here (http://members.lycos.co.uk/xevo/featEvo_WRC340.html).
BTW, I still love my Celica and would like to keep it even if I get the EVO! :)
Thank you for reading this post!

The bad news is, we are getting the EVO VIII US "global" spec. Current rumor according to lancerforums.com is that they are making a Lancer Cedia Turbo in Japan, and it will be sold as the "global Evolution" in other counties (ie North America). So we may not get the real deal here, just a car to compete with the WRX. They are talking 250HP stock, and that's pushing the engine because it's an Airtrek, not the engine that's in the actual EVO in japan or european spec.

I still believe we're getting the same EVO VII like the rest of the world, most likely detuned and would be badged as EVO VIII. Here's from Motor Trend. (http://www.motortrend.com/may02/evolution/evolution_f.html)
BTW, isn't the new EVO VII derived from the Lancer Cedia? Read more. (http://auto.ascii24.com/auto24/e/2001/0126/e01npr_st0126_01.html)

Well I hope it is close, or is at least a pretty fast car, but it's not going to be "like the rest of the world" because they have to move the front mount intercooler to the side. Thanks US.

2000 XYR: What I meant "like the rest of the world" is that as far as styling and the engine (4G63) is concerned, they'll still be the same. But thanks for pointing out the FMIC issue, I should have been more specific.
BTW, what's the issue w/ FMIC and US crash standards? Dun we hv lots of turboed Civics, Integras, Supras, GSXs (u name it) w/ FMIC running on the streets? I just dun get it? I mean how safe are those HUGE SUVs running on the streets when they can climb all over u in a collision?

Well I wasn't trying to be picky. I don't really know hardly anything about them. I've seen pictures and I like the vents in the hood, but I absolutely hate the fog lights (at least on the ones I've seen). They are like 10" in diameter! I haven't seen any pics of what we're getting though.
RE: FMIC. I think it failed the 5 MPH front-end collision test or whatever it is that they do. I don't know why they couldn't just beef of the front bumper and maybe protrude it forward a little so that the IC would be OK. Mine is right up front, and my bumper is like 99% plastic. But if they moved it then it must not have been that easy. I did hear it will/may have dual side ICs, maybe one in each fender? Anyways, like I said I don't know much about them, but am sorta anxiously awaiting cars like it. I think if I were in the market for a new car right now, I'd get the WRX. But soon a couple decent cars will be here. Should be a good year or two. :D
