i just got back from driving around and wanted to make a post about this.
its the best sounding car.
under lift it sounds so nice and then lift kicks in and it soo loud and crazy.
everyone stares when you hit lift in the evil car :evil:

I have actually gotten a few comments on mine saying it sounds a lot more like an american car than an import.....

I love the sound of screaming Celicas and Type-R Hondas :) The new Mini Cooper S has a sweet exhuast note. Still - I love the whistle of my turbos spooling in the Supra :D

lift is pretty damn queit without and intake though.
i took off my intake a few times and it wasn't loud at all.
you cant even tell your in it except for it pulls a lot harder.

i have a GT and i think my car sounds bad ass all the way. never heard lift in a a celica thou :( . i did hear a integra type r the over day it looked sooo sweet. not sure what he had but i have my radio on like 16 and windows up and he drop the gear i was like oh my ****ing lord hehe.... i wanted to cream my pants. but it looked like it had lots of work. but back to my car... CAI was god to me and my car. Even my friend with a 440 cubic inch road runner was like wow. this doesn't sound like a inline 4 hehe. and my other friend was saying the same thing. and some mustang GT i race was complementing on my car hehe :) i love my car.

The Ferrari 360 Modena sounds pretty freaking good; shrieking like a banshee and all.

The BMW Motosports 5 Series with it's equal length, split plenum manifold sounds awesome under WOT conditions.

The BMW Motorsports 3 Series with it's Inline 6 is simply music to my ears.

Porsche 996 Carrera with sport exhaust must be heard to be believed. Makes Barry White seemed "testicularly challenged". And I sh1t you not. Same applies for Boxter S with sports exhaust.

The Aston Martin Vanquish is the best sounding modern V-12. Well, the Lamborghini Diablo is much more "ferocious" sounding. So I guess the AM has the "sweetest" sounding V-12.

As for 4 cylinders are concerned... I'd have to say the S2K, ITR and GT-S are certainly at the top of the heap. Have yet to drive the RS-X so I cannot comment outside of the commercials. I must say that I adore the sound of Cold Air Intake systems on the three cars mentioned.

Scooby has more character than the DOHC I-4s though.

yes i own a prelude, i'm not here to start a flame war, but i've been in my friend's gt-s, ('Ricey GTS' on this board), and lift sounds pretty nice.. i just haven't heard it enough to compare it to vtec directly.

hitting lift is a really cool noise, espcially in a tunnel with a CAI. however, after riding in a wrx with a TRM, downpipe and uppipe, i think it might be a new favorite. that thing sounded all out mean.

drove my dad's s2k
drove (but didn't hit lift)/been in my friend's gt-s (hit lift)

I just haven't heard the gt-s enough times to really compare it.

Stang GT's with performance cams and exhaust sound pretty damn scary to me. Kinda on the opposite side of the spectrum from the Celica. If I had to compare it's engine sound to others I would pit it against sport bikes. High-reving craziness to low rumble intimidation.

You should have heard my old Conquest. When that turbo spooled up, it sounded like a jet turbine with all that air sucking in!! Very intimidating for a 4-cyl.!!

I've driven the Vanquish [worked on the program], 360 Modena [benchmark data], M3 [data & friend owns one], M5 [data obtained], 996 [test drive], Boxter S [test ride], S2K [data obtained & driven several], GT-S [several overnight drives], Scooby [numerous test drives/rides], own the ITR. Heard the Diablo. There is a black one with Virginia tags roaming around the suburbs here and I've seen it three times in the last two weeks. I dropped my business card under the wiper asking him to contact me. I wish to obtain interior sound recordings of the car.

you hit lift in parking garrages? I hope that you're just revving your engine.

I'm too scared to drive fast in a parking garrage. My friend hit a pillar in a parking garrage because he was going 30 in one and a suburban suddenly backed out.
