Posting for a friend. I figure you Toyota fanboys will be all over this car.
I don't really want to do this and I'm still hoping/waiting/holding out for a miracle to happen. With me being unemployed and going back to school, unemployment money isn't cutting it. We've gotta pay bills and I can't have two cars. Enough whining, to the car:
- bought last March from BJ (ninjai)
- 1991 MR2 Turbo with 147k on the body
- JDM Gen 2 engine swap - before I got it
- since I've had it, got small sheet w/all maintenance items covered and when (mileage)
- oil changed only with Mobil 1 synthetic
- tranny oil changed w/Mobil 1 synthetic
- has unknown downpipe on it, looks to have 1 or 2 bungs for egt or wideband gauges
- has HKS SSQV blow off valve installed, not recirculated. If wanted, I can buy the fitting and recirc it.
- stock rubber bushings on tranny cables replaced with brass bushings from Twosrus, really firms up the shifting
- LED mod done to instrument panel, looks pretty nice
- replaced front left wheel bearing
- drilled and slotted brakes all around
- Porterfield R4S front pads, still have lots of bite on them, saved stock pads still in box w/enough on them too
- TRD short-throw shifter
- Omori boost gauge in stock location
- Prosport 52mm water temp gauge in stock location
- 3/4 set of 93 wheels, was going to use them for autocross wheels (4th wasn't given because it was too chewed up) - comes with Toyota shank-type wheel lugs
- 15x7 +35 BBS wheels, currently shod with Kumho V710 205f/225r r-comps, have another set of the 225's in the garage
- stock wheels with wearing rubber, still pass inspection, but not for much longer
- RS*R springs, not sure if Race or Street, not installed, waiting to go in
- ebay intercooler core not installed, was waiting for spring to fab up piping
- Valet 712t keyless entry system included, not installed yet. Another thing I was gonna do this spring, ugh. Has provisions to also work with Valet's trunk pop system and their auto window down system (programmable key fobs).
- also has engine lid prop rod and rubber corner adjusters, was going to put them in when I got an engine lid rain shield that's supposed to go under the lid
- trunk helper spring sourced and installed
Electrical demons worked on or still existing:
- when I got the car, there was no head unit, it was blowing fuses left and right and the security system was acting up so sometimes you couldn't start the car
- electrical system sorted out, now have working head unit and 2 door speakers
- factory alarm works, horn in trunk rewired to actually go off when alarm does
- previous owners (not BJ) removed all speakers and the sub from the car, re-ran bigger gauge wiring. Tweeters are still in there and anybody with electrical knowledge can just run their own wiring (as was done when I had the speakers put in) and put in new tweeters and rear speakers, or whatever you want
- drivers side speaker either has a loose connection from the install guy or it needs to be replaced. I can figure that out and put new speakers in if someone wants. It is wired to just plug and play speakers though, so that's good
- Head unit is a Pioneer and does cd/mp3 but also has a front-facing usb and auxiliary ports for an Ipod or whatever else. Very useful, once you plug the ipod in the usb, the head unit actually controls the ipod. Comes with remote. HU will come with car because I don't feel like removing it and nobody wants a car w/out tunes
- intercooler fan works but the circuit does not. I've just started diving into this to see why. I did test the fan and it does work. Need to test the rest of the circuit or get someone who can
- cigarette lighter did not work so I wired a 12v power source in its place (I don't smoke anyways), works like a charm
Body work (the big stuff):
- when I got the car, it was a visual mess. There was (and still isn't) a complete front lip. I replaced it, but then it got "removed" some how when I got the car towed home once
- rear bumper was a Tom's fiberglass that was just beat to crap and cracked all over the place. Removed and replaced with factory rear bumper, shot in coat of black primer
- side skirts are Tom's also, they were wood screwed and bondoed to the car. Screws removed, bondo taken out, metal pulled out and skirts re-glassed to the sides of the car.
- drivers side rear quarter must have been in an accident at some point (but was never reported), and bondo was applied - very thickly. Was all ground down to the metal and pulled out, smoothed and then the skirt on that side was re-glassed too
- the side mouldings were not removed properly. When Justin was doing the work on the drivers side, he found that they were fiberglassed OVER. He removed them, filled them with steel, welded them in, then painted over.
- the trunk was drilled with so many holes from other wings/spoilers that they were sanded and filled in, then body worked. Had a TRD style spoiler but a factory 91 spoiler was sourced and installed.
- all body work up to the doors is covered in a DP90 black primer. The plan was to do all the body work, cover in that stuff, then paint the whole car again
Engine
- compression and leak tested a few weeks ago, tested 170 all across and leakdown was less than 10% on all 4.
- put down 163whp/189 ft-lbs on Mustang dyno this summer
- probably needs PCV and valve cover gasket. When I took the car to Dunnville, the car shot oil out of the BOV. This only did it at the sustained high rpm's the car was at and it hasn't done it since.
- K&N filter was recently cleaned with their filtercharger kit this summer
- needs new intake elbow (cracked), currently rtv'd together.
- wires and NGK BKR7E plugs replaced the spring before I bought it
- I think someone replaced the factory t-stat with a 160* one, so the car runs cooler and a lot richer than it should
- air conditioning needs recharge
- cruise control unit removed when engine was swapped so light flashes when you turn the car on, but it doesn't work
There's prolly more I'm forgetting/missing, so if you think of something, ask me!
Repair log:
143,665 - oil change, Mobil1
145,000 - rear bumper, spoiler, primed, bodyworked
146,200 - LF wheel bearing, oil seal
146,643 - oil change, Mobil1
146,970 - tranny fluid changed, Mobil1
I changed the oil as soon as I got it, so you can see I've barely driven it but I've had a blast with it. I bought the car as a 2nd car for autocross, track and drag racing and for a nice summer car. I love this car and I don't want to sell it, but bills are piling up and what good is enjoying life when your credit is going into the ****ter and you got more important things to take care of?
Hopefully I'll pick something up again, but only when things play out.
I'm not parting it out and I'd love to just sell everything together for this price - I know I can sell it for more.
If anyone is interested they can email me first at eccentric_porcupine@hotmail.com
