Well I don't know if this is called power shifting but I wanted to know how bad it is for your car to shift gears WITHOUT EVER LIFTING YOUR FOOT OFF THE GAS. This way, you don't get the lag you usually get when you take your foot off the gas to shift. The engine will rev a lot between shifts when you are shifting from gear to gear but it seems a lot faster.

That could destroy your transmission pretty quickly. Your Synchros will have a little trouble keeping up, and well your probably giving the whole drivetrain a bit of a jolt in doing so.

I'm no expert on cars but essentially, isn't that what is going on with automatics? In an automatic car, when the gears shift you never take your foot off the gas because the car does it for you. So is it really that bad to do it in a manual car?

Completly different setup, not even remotly comparable.

Yes, all in all, unless you are VERY VERY good at it (wich i doubt anyone really is), powershifting is a bad idea, but a great way to totally fukk up your tranny.

The only thing comparable to that is double de-clutching, but that won't screw up your trans. The shifts go smooth like an auto because you are rev matching.

that is sport shifting....
it is one of the best way to fry ur clutch and mess up ur tranny including ur synchros... trust meeh, i used to do it all the time..
power shifting is more like, when u dont even use the clutch at all. i've done both and the result,
sport shifing got me some new clutch and new synchros,
power shifting got me a new tranny and new throwout bearing plus.....
i was lucky to get those covered under warranty w/o problems...
i dont recommend u doing these....
