View Full Version : Is it normal to hear all kinds of sounds after...

I just had TRD springs installed on my 2K celica yesterday using the stock struts and shocks...shop told me to give it a couple days to let the spring settle. Drove it home and immediately noticed all kinds of bump noises on road bumps and rough roads...is this normal?

yeah i installed the eibach pro kit which is similar to trd and noticed new noises afterward... some noises will dissappear, road/bump noises will stay. you'll get used to it.

If you are getting a knocking noises it may be you lock nuts on the sway bar links to the tie rod that may be loose, when I got my coilovers installed they were rattling and clunking a bit (very different from normal bumps and road noise) sounds like someone is tapping a hammer lightly under the car.

Use some lock tight (like super glue) if thats the problem on the inside of the nut before retightening everything, should last for a while.

I expect the new noises with lowered springs but these other noise is somewhat coming from the top of the right struts, it's almost like something is hitting under the hood. I checked the strut tower brace and there were some loose nuts and I actually broke one of them trying to tighten it up!!!! I ordered a set of upper strut mount earlier to replace both. Is this safe to drive?

check your sway bar end links, they go bad, i had the same thing, did everything to try and get rid of the knocking sound coming from the suspension area, and turned out my sway bar end-links were shot.

^true, for me it was my front left end link, expect to bounce a lot

who installed your springs? did they reuse the rubber lower and upper rubber insulators?

TK performance here in Jax, FL.....I ordered new struts to be installed next week.
