I don't know the answer to your question but I'm pretty sure there will be something you can do. I never really took care of any of my cars before (shame on me) and I just used Mothers Preserves on my dash and it's kinda lame the way it turned out. A bit too shiny and slippery for my tastes and I got some on the leather trim on the doors and now they're slippery, too. I'm hoping it will fade in time.
Good luck.

hmm thx you anyway... maybe i should use some of that mothers stuff... it would probably make mine normal again... its like so dry... feels like they used concrete to shape the interior ^_^;;;

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that would do the trick. Don't despair, it can be fixed for sure. Worse case, take it to the dealer and ask their advice. You'll get it solved and then enjoy your baby once again.

I heard that some amonia free auto glass cleaner is useful in removing Armorall and the shine.
Maby you could test it in a none noticable area.
Personally, I don`t like to apply anything on my dash. I just dust it and keep it clean

SilverRide, I'm with you on that. I wish I never put on the Mothers Preserves. I liked the dash without it. Maybe after a week or two it'll wear off and I'll just keep it clean. Not sure tho.

Just get a glass cleaner that is "safe for tints" and it will be amonia free.
Personally, I use "Eagal One 20/20" glass cleaner that comes in a pump bottle. It does a good, all around job for me.

Try Vinylex. It'll get rid of the dryness the Armorall created, plus it should remove whatever is left of the Armorall. It won't make the dash all shiny or anything, either.

The alcohol in the glass cleaner will remove the oils in the armor all. A safer way would be to use a soft damp cloth saturated with dish soap and rub it on, not allowing it to dry. Then follow it up with a damp clean cloth to remove the soap. It should get the oil from the armor all out and i believe that the dryness is caused from the leather preservative in the wipes.
When i clean my car i use my griots garage synthetic Chamois. When im done drying the car, i wipe down the door jams with a separate cloth and finish by wiping down the dash with my damp shammy. I clean the instrument panel with some glass cleaner, or just dust it off if its not too dirty. I definately wholeheartedly recommend never using anything on your dash. A shiny dash is a visual hazard.

I have found great results with Vinylex, leaving little additional shine to the interior plastics.

are you sure your dash is ruined? the dash is supposed to be dry and rough feeling. they say its like that so that its sun treated or something and not to use anything on it. i just wipe it off with a dry towel to get dust off it. it doesn't need anything else.

You bought glass cleaner. Vinylex is for cleaning/protecting vinyl and plastic. Sure you can use the stuff you bought to clean the plastics, but that still leaves them unprotected.

i have not found any vinylx locally.
this is what i do:
use a dark colored rag ( no lint )
with some fantastic on the interior plastics
it cleans em up nice.....and no greasy stains.
then i take an interior car duster (california)
and pick up what ever dust is behind.
Nice / clean / no grease

Answer me this, Do you see the link above and have you followed it? Are you wary of buying the product on-line?
If so that's fine, but we can't help you any more than this.

well its about official, NOBODY in alabama carries this wonder-product, or so i believe. But no worries, for the power of Mastercard and a mother-approved idea allowed me to point my browser to autobarn.com and, yes, you wont believe it but its true... allow me to purchase 2 bottles of this legendary cleaner. Please allow 1 to 2 business days for delivery. $24.56 total. Thank you forum readers for helping me. This problem is officially solved. ^_^!

I have to deal w/ this all the time.
USE A LITTLE BIT OF LEFT OVER CAR WASH SOAP, IE. mEGUIARS GOLD CLASS, AND A SPONGE. SCRUP DASH UNTIL YOU CAN SEE THE DIFFERENCE. THEN FOLLOW W/ A GOOD LEATHER CONDITIONER (MEGUIARS AGAIN WORKS PERFECTLY).

Vinylex will protect your dash 1000x better than Armor All. It restores the plasticizers in the plastic so it won't dry out and crack. It also has a UV protectant in it (aka sunscreen). Armor All definitely doesn't restore plasticizers, and I highly doubt is has any UV protection.

You're right, Armorall is more of a fake shine....all it really does is dry stuff out. I ony use it for inside wheel wells.
