Then infamous "missift." Minimum, you have bent valves (all the noise). Most dealers are covering it under warranty.
Just 70 mph? I really doubt it would do any damage at that speed (2nd gear is good for about 65, and by the time the clutch was all the way out, you should have been down to that speed).
Anyhow, it can be fixed, but expect your car to be out of comission for a while. Try to talk them into a new engine - it saves everyone time.

a little bit of a hassle plus 30 days without a car and you should be good to go.

This situation seems neverending for me. I have a 2000 GTS and I have mis-shifted twice. The first time I was going about 90 and shifted into 2nd instead of 4th and I blew the oil filter. Toyota was great about it, and replaced the majority of the engine except for the block, because metal particles from the oil filter spread throughout the engine. The second time, I was going about 80, and the same thing happened. However, the RPMs shot to about 9500 instead of 1250...so I thought I caught it in time. Took it intoToyota and they are fixing the bent valves under warranty. So far I have had good luck with Toyota, but they are installing the 2001-2 transmission on my car, so hopefully this will not happen again. If your car is under warranty, then everything should work out fine, but see if they will install the new transmission (it should be free, because of all the problems).
