from Central, near Baton Rouge. I spend all my time either in Central or Denham Springs. You?
This is mine. I just got it in September, and I'm still doing the stuff that "needs" to be done to it (i.e. repairs) before I start with the fun stuff.

Those are some great, great pictures. I'm torn between the b&w tree and the birds. I think I like the birds a bit more, just because I don't know if I've ever seen such clarity in an overhead shot like that.
yodaddyguido
11-14-2009, 09:36 PM
i really like the bird shot for its clarity, but the tree pic is great. really neat how you captured stars in the shot. and geaux tigers :D

It's at the State Capitol Raceway, and it's making up for the October meet that got rained out. Hopefully, this one won't get rained out too. 65 guys from the New Orleans forum, not sure how many from the Baton Rouge forum, and a lot of the guys who show aren't a part of either board.

BayouDealer
12-09-2009, 01:54 PM
They are not too bad unless you want the one with the F2.8 across.... I would be happy with the f 4.5-5.6 VR ... I have seen them in the low $500 range.

BayouDealer
12-10-2009, 02:05 AM
yeah the 70-300mm Vr lens is about $550 or so
the 17mm-55mm f2.8 is $1250.00
I also like the 80-200 f2.8 for 999.00
But I am also looking to get some primes for the wider angles or lower end of the scale.
I have the 50mm 1.8 prime
I want the 35mm 1.8 which is about 200 bucks.
Nikon 24mm f/2.8D AF Nikkor Lens which is about $360.00
Then get the $1200 80-300 and I think I should be good for a while! Now I just need to win a couple grand in the lottery and I am all set!
~02SpecelicaGT~
12-10-2009, 07:37 AM
Yeah all of those sound good lol...I just want to be able to have a nice macro lens, a wide lens for landscapes, and a telephoto one so i can take pics of the moon :) then ill be satisfied for now...and prolly still continue to buy lenses after that knowing me lol

mrluilou

nice portraits jeff, on the top right pic her left arm looks funny underneath her armpit. bottom left pic the boy looks out of focus, what lighting setup did you have for the pics of the boy w/ the mom?
BayouDealer
12-14-2009, 01:49 AM
Just my SB600 and a small reflector. I edited those shots again and I think they came out a little better.
Yeah I know about the armpit hand thing, Her mom and I still liked the shot alot so I can live with it.
Also I noticed later that the bottom to the girls son's hand is on her breast so I will have to watch for that in the future! Ever shoot I learn more. Here are some new edits and two new shots from a friends tonight!

This shot is a tad soft/ out of focus too but once again the mom and I said we would work with it and she is staying 5x7s.

12-14-2009, 01:38 PM
did you have the flash mounted on the camera? when i take portraits like that i usually shoot through an umbrella and it helps a lot
BayouDealer
12-14-2009, 02:03 PM
Mr Luilou
Which shots are you talking about.
The top 3 I had my flash bouncing off the ceiling cause I dont have a unbrella or soft box.
The last two I got inventive and I have a 42 inch reflector that you can pull the cover off and it is transparent. So I set it up and let the flash fire through that! Yes they cam out much better!
Hoping to get a soft box or umbrella for christmas!!! I think I have been good!
mrluilou
12-14-2009, 02:17 PM
:chuckles:
i was talking about all the pics :gap:
i also have a 5 in 1 reflector which i rarely use since i can't be in two places at once :(
i got my umbrella w/ lightstand for less than 100 on amazon :gap:
BayouDealer
12-14-2009, 02:25 PM
You did not get the stand with the reflector. I just want to add the flash mount to the arm that holds the reflector! I got mine from Adorama.
