I have a exedy stage 1 that i can use or a south bend Kty14 TZ both are brand new and i have a turbokits.com kit that i am going to be throwing on with the smaller turbo which would be the logic choice for clutch??

i dont know if there are any other differences but i know that the south bend clutch is kevlar and the exedy isnt?

anybody can give me good and bad opinions about each clutch if there is any? ive heard that kevlar after running on the engine hard (such as racing it on a drag strip 3 to 4 times)will slip but once cool it will be good again this is what southbend told me.

A good video on clutches.

I guess if your bound and determined the southbend handles a 25% increase in torque and the exedy is a "stock" replacement.

Truthfully neither one is right. Sell both and get yourself a clutch that can handle 200lb of torque. I just suggest not getting a "puck" clutch unless your planning on more then 300whp. The puck chatter and in stop and go are horrible, at least by my experiance.

I suggest the southbend, great for daily driving and grabs very hard.

Upgrade your flywheel while your at it also. I suggest the Fidanza Flywheel, great combo with the Southbend.

i already have fidanza flywheel and this car is going to be my daily driver if anything i plan on hitting 300hp max so shouldnt the southbend kty14 tz full disc be fine?? reason i dont get a puck is because i have lower back problems and i dont like the feel of the clutch pedal otherwise i would.

i talked to southbend and they told me that i could send this clutch in and they would make the clamping force on the pressure plat harder if i want free of charge

Also i had a 3 puck stage 2 exedy worked really good jus didnt like the feel of the clutch was a little to strong in stop and go traffic.

Im thinking of sending the kty14 TZ and getting the kty14 SS TZ i believe its a 6 puck?? would this clutch be to stiff to have as a daily driver that would be in stop and go traffic everyonce and a while?

also is a 6 puck less stiff than a 3 puck because i had an exedy stage 2 3 puck and that was a little to stiff for me

i highly recommend ACT. I'm running a 6puck sprung clutch with the XT pressure plate, which is like 80% increase in clamping or whatever. Before my install, i read that they chatter a lot and people said not to get a pucked clutch because its rough and noisy for DD. Mine does not chatter at all and the engagement is practically the same as ACT's street disc....i think as long as you get a sprung clutch, not a solid one, you should be fine. i kind of wish i went with a 4 puck.

thanks for the tips but i already am going with southbend forsure jus trying to figure out the stiffness of the ss tz clutch because not only do i use as a DD but i also take it on many trips thats why i regretted the 3 puck stage 2

I thought the kty14tz could handle 300 hp turbo or supercharged cars. If you have lower back problems and clutch pedal stiffness is an issue for you then this is the perfect clutch. At first, when you install it and press the clutch you'll think somethings wrong, the pedal is softer than stock. Like I said it's great for daily driving and the clutch pedal isnt even close to stiff.

softer than stock??? isnt that to soft haha i actually do like the stiffness over stock just the exedy 3 puck was jus a little to stiff for me
