To start off i'm new on here and drive a 6spd black 2001 GT-S and i love it. It has an AEM cold air intake, Magnaflow axleback exhaust and its dropped. I also threw some red pin stripes on when i got bored one day. Ok so for the question. This has happened twice so far. I was driving down the road going about 55 and i was coming up on the place i was headed so i took my foot off the gas....the car kept accelerating.... I pressed the clutch in and my RPM's shot up and tapped rev limiter at 8.5k. I immediately hit the gas and they dropped back down. I checked to see if my floor mat had worked its way up but it was still in its proper position. I know Toyota has that huge recall going on right now but i didnt see our car in the list of affected cars. Should I take it in anyways?? Is it just a throttle cable getting stuck somewhere??

stuck throttle. that has happened to some members here. and i don't think toyota would recall a 10 year old car. gl

Especially when they're not even manufactured anymore...

There's speculation that the accidents involving the Toyota's sudden acceleration is not due to a floor mat problem but an electronic problem, something to do with the computer systems used I can't remember what it was exactly...

Edit: nevermind you have a 2001, the "faulty" electronics is said to be for Toyota's 2002+

Drive-by-wire throttles started somewhere in 2003 on the Celicas so you don't have them. Most likely a fray in the cable somewhere.

Ok cool thanks guys. Another question, where can i find a second gear synchro besides the dealership?? I cant downshift into second going above 25 and it sucks sometimes. Also have a bad drivers side mount, do they make poly urethane ones?
