Hey guys!

So I Am new here, but not new to forums. I have had a turbo spec-v, turbo mustang, blah blah blah. I am a Tech at a Local Toyota Dealership, and am currently figuring out what to do for my next project, and I am pretty much sold on a GT-S.

Gonna do a pretty simple Turbo setup...Not sure what exactly, but I want 500hp on pump gas and low boost.

but, Just thought I would post a hello, before I go off and read about the after market of these cars! cool

Welcome to the boards. Spend some time in the F/I section. You won't be getting anywhere close to 500 hp (neither whp nor chp) on low boost and pump gas, so I'm gonna go ahead and assume you are just kidding with those words. Are you trying to make fun of us? :D

Why don't you guys think 500hp with pump gas is doable?

GT35r, E85, and some nice, strong internals I don't see a prob with it at all. I am more worried about getting that to the ground.

And why am I am glad I live in Houston? I just moved here from kansas city.

houston because one of the main leaderboard guys live close to you and will be able to help and give you alot of useful info.

i believe the top celica gts is 666hp not to many in the 500 range at that.so to get a low boosting celica i would say 350hp 400hp on pump gas (i believe).

Thats cool, i am always down to get some advice from someone who know about the performance of this car more then I do.

I was thinking 20ish psi on a gt35r. for low boost.

low boost on a GT35R with a 1.8L motor . . . . .

first off, you're not going to see 500 whp with that setup

second, that turbo is too large for that motor. You'll have boost in 1/3 of the powerband - the rest will be all lag.

I am not here to start a pissing match, or anything, just want a little bit of knoweldage on the aftermarket world of this car since I have Never modded one, or looked into modding one before.

Stroker motor, or a little bit of Nitrous can Help twith that lag, spool, and power band issue.

and a gt35r is NOT to big for this car....maybe if it where to be a daily driver, sure. (Different people want different things for their car)

hell, on my civic drag car that trapped 145+mph it had a 67mm on it, and it was a 2.0L

I am NOT a new person to this, by any means dont know it all, but I have learned a few things along the way from EFI101 class (and Graduating) , having a few quick cars my self, to working at a performance shop, to being a tech at toyota currently.

Just wanted to see what I could learn about this car before jumping balls deep into a project. does that boosted2.0 own a shop? or.....

A gt-35r turbo is not to big for a gt-s motor especially if he is building the motor as he says he is. Lightened flywheel, cams, lower the compression, and some head work.

I ran a gt-35r turbo on my 1.6l d16 honda motor and that thing pulled like no ones business.

Thank you...Someone else who agrees with me, and who has actual experience to back up their statements.

I think the problem started with the use of the words low boost. Low boost is typically understood around here to be single digit to low double digit numbers, not the easiest way to see 500+ whp on pump gas unless indeed you have a huge snail.
As I said before your best bet is to spend time in the F/I section (which I'm sure you're doing already), search through threads and see the list of people with high horsepower cars and compare the setups they have. That will give a good indication of what you'll need to reach your goals.

Well, I can understand that, BUT, what someone considers low boost, others will consider high boost....just like Soome people think a gt35r is way to big for this car, I dont....but I should have made my self more clear, that this isnt just going to be stock engine, bolt on turbo kit...

but I should have made my self more clear, that this isnt just going to be stock engine, bolt on turbo kit... Oh we know it isn't going to be a stock engine, pistons call it quits around 300whp. Some have seen higher but are more the exception than the rule.

I'd say do it and let us know.
